"Hey Bro!" She faked a happy voice. It's not that she doesn't want to see him, he just hasn't been exactly nice to Gunner. "I haven't seen Tiffany and Grace around."
"I am just about to meet them for lunch, they had a birthday party before they could come. Why don't you two come too?"
As ashamed as it makes him Gunner is a little scared of her brother. He may be her little brother by age but nothing else about him is little. It was obvious that he works out not to mention he is about six foot three inches or so. It was frightening enough that he is a good four inches taller, but the thought of that big tree like person not liking the idea of him dating his sister didn't help. Then it hits him. No one knows they are dating. Is this good? Or bad?
"Umm, we don't have any plans, but I have to get back to the booth soon."
Colton narrows his eyes at her. "I'm your brother can't I trump your business just this once?"
She looks at Gunner and sees the slight fear in his eyes. This can't be all bad. Just don't let them sit beside each other and be sure Tiffany is beside Colton. "Sure, why not? Where at?"
Colton gives her directions and tells them what time they were planning on meeting. Then he turns away from them as if nothing is weird, like he didn't just work a trick to get to question Gunner.
She suppresses the sigh and face palm she so badly wants to do. What did I just get us in to, Lord? Suddenly one of her favorite verses comes to mind. For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans for a hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
***Gunner frowns as he listens to Caisson yell into what he assumes is her phone. She had excused herself from the booth almost an thirty minutes ago and he became worried so came to check on her. The results are better than the worse situation he had thought of but not ideal.
"Are you kidding me? Colton no! You can't just change plans on me like this." She yells flailing her free arm out. He watches as her face scrunches up and she growls in frustration. "No! I didn't bring a fancy outfit. It's a rodeo and I was an it distracted when I packed."
Gunner decides now is as good of a time as any to show his presence. "Cais, sweetheart, is everything okay?"
She spins around and sighs. "No." She locks her phone and puts it in her pocket without saying goodbye to her brother. "Colton wants to do a formal restaurant instead of the other one."
He shrugs and placed each of his hands on her hips. "That sounds okay."
She shakes her head and lays it on his muscular chest. "No, it's not. I don't have anything halfway formal to wear and he wants to meet in an hour."
"Calm down there, Cais. We will go shopping, it will be okay."
She raises an eyebrow at him. "You sure you want to go shopping with me? It's not much fun."
He laughs. "You can't be much worse than my mother. Let's go!"
She shakes her head at the excitement in his voice. "Okay, you, lets go."
***"Gunner! You say every dress looks good I don't know which one to get now."
Gunner laughs and sits down beside her and kisses her cheek lightly. "Come on I like them all. How about a shorter one?"
She scrunches her nose up and shakes her head violently. "No no no no no and no! Not happening I hate short dresses."
He sighs but his smile still shines. "So that means get a long dress."
"But which one?"
He laughs and shrugs. "Whatever one you like best."
She looks at the time on her phone and her eyes grow to the size of saucers. "Gunner! We are suppose to be there in like fifteen minutes. I have no idea which dress and I only have boots with me."
With a smile he stands and pulls out a light pink maxy dress with cap sleeves. "You look great in it! Let me pay for it, then put it on and lets go." He quickly adds, "But don't forget to take the tags off."
She laughs and shakes her head. "I really didn't want to do this, but fine. You win! But do not take away my boots."
His eye grow large and he holds up his hands in surrender. "No problem, Cais."
Gunner taps his fingers on the arm of the chair as he waits for her to come out of the dressing room. The shop keepers have been nice enough to let her chain and add a little bit of make up there. Come on Cais! How long does it take to get ready? You are killing me with the suspense.
