Caisson's lips still tingle as she settles into a chair in the waiting room. As tired as she is sleep won't come. The worry and fear and anxiousness tries to over take her mind, but with prayer and the thought of her first kiss keeps the negative from winning.

As the minutes tick by she finds herself staring into open space until someone waves a hand in front of her face. She jumps slightly as she focuses her eyes on the broad built body standing in front of her. Her gaze travels up from the worn boots until she sees the deep blue eyes of her little brother.

"Colton? Colton, what are you doing here?" She questions jumping up and wrapping her arms around his neck.

He smiles and picks her up. "Well I heard that my little sis was scared for her beloved boyfriend so I came to keep her some company."

"Colton! That's very sweet of you, thank you."

He grins. "Well as nice as my sister is being about that, I can not take credit for this. Gunner called me a little while ago and asked if I could come by. Oh! And I almost forgot to tell you that I have a change of clothes for the both of you."

She feels tears surfacing at the kind things Gunner has thought of through all of this. "He's so sweet," she whispers.

Colton smiles and settles into the seat next to her. "I'm sorry if it seems like I don't like him or that you are dating him. As you know, I'm sure, he's a great guy. I've realized that the more we have talked and the more I see how happy he makes you. He's a good guy and I'm going to try to be more okay with you dating."

Caisson isn't sure how to react. She wants to smile cry and hug her brother all at the same time. "You have no idea how much that means to me."

"I think I have an idea."

Gunner blinks his blurry eyes and looks around at his surroundings. When his eyes land on Caisson snuggled up to his side sound asleep a smile stretches across his face. He leans over to place a soft kiss on the top of her head. "I love you Caisson Beck and nothing is going to change that."

A chuckle escapes his lips as he sees her phone in her hands. He slowly slips it out from between her fingers and unlocks it. His heart stops as he sees what she was doing before she fell asleep.

My Gunner,
You are an incredible man. Your dashing looks, your kind heart, the way you reach out to what God has planned for you, your thoughtfulness and so much more I have yet to discover they all make me fall in love with you even more.
I confess you riding bulls scares me to no end, but I wouldn't want to change you for anything. Your dare-devilness, your bravery, the way you always encourage the other riders... and me, it is all a part of you.
I guess what I'm trying to say in all of this is that I love you for who you are and absolutely nothing is going to change that.
      Love Caisson ❤️

He feels tears in the back of his eyes. Her sweet words make him want to wrap her up in her arms and kiss her. However, he restrains himself to planting a soft kiss on the top of her head and whispering, "I love you."

After about thirty minutes his precious girlfriend wakes up rubbing the sleepiness from her eyes. A bright smile instantly spreads across her face when she sees he is awake. "You are awake! How do you feel? Let me get the nurse. Would you like something to drink?"

He chuckles stopping her rambling questions. "Sweetheart, I am absolutely fine. Just one thing that you could get me."

"Yes, sure, anything."

He smirks a little. "A kiss."

She blushes a little before connecting her lips with his. The kiss quickly turn heated and only when there is a knock at the big wooden door do they break apart.

A nurse older nurse, probably in her late fifties, peeks around the corner and a smile quickly appears on her face when she notices that Gunner is awake. "Wonderful! You are awake and looking bright." She checks his blood pressure, heart rate, and a couple other things before nodding in satisfaction. "You are alive and healthy! I'll have the doctor come in."

Gunner nods. "Thank you."

As soon as the door clicks behind the nurse Caisson snuggles back up to his side. He wraps his arms around her and breaths in the scent of her shampoo she uses in her hair. Once again their sweet moment is interrupted by a knock at the door. Gunner growls in frustration before yelling to come in.

The door opens and a string of people come in. First his parents then Colton and finally the doctor. Gunner feels Caisson tense beside him. He kisses her temple and whispers encouraging words to her.

As soon as everyone is circled around the hospital bed voices start to run together while everyone is talking. Gunner and Caisson look at each other and shake their heads. "This is crazier than I thought it would be," he says lowly. He whistles loudly and the room instantly falls silent.

Dr. Jones speaks first, "Thank you. Now if it is okay with Gunner you are all welcome to stay and listen to the report."

Gunner nods. "It's better they all hear at once. What's the run down?"

"The surgery went better than expected so that is good news. I want you to stay off your foot for two weeks then come back and we will go from there."

Gunner nods. "And when can I get back to riding?"

"Uh no-" his mom starts to speak but Dr. Jones quickly jumps in.

"We will talk about that in two weeks, but I have faith you will make a full and speedy recovery."

As he exits the room everyone looks to the couple still snuggling. "Gunner?" His mom says with question marks hanging in her eyes.

"Oh, right. Mom, dad, this is my girlfriend Caisson Beck. Caisson this is my mom Hope and my dad Greg."

"Hi nice to finally meet y'all," Caisson says quietly, obviously because shy.

"You too dear! I've heard so much about you and you make my son very happy," Hope says a bright smile on her face.

Caisson smiles. "Well he makes me the happiest girl ever."
