Chapter One - The Nightmare

As the sun hit my face, I groaned and shut the curtains next to my bed then buried my face back into the pillows. Just as I thought I would have the chance to go back to sleep, my alarm goes off and the loud noise makes me jump straight up from bed. Startled, I look around to find my phone, but unfortunately could not find it anymore.

"C'mon where is it?!" Trying to find the source of the noise, I realize it was under my bed. Grabbing the black phone, I turn off the alarm in anger from how it disturbed my Saturday.

"Christina! Come down stairs, breakfast is ready," my mom called from the kitchen as I turned my phone on to check the time. It was only 6:50am, why was her mom awake, let alone ready with breakfast?

As I threw my phone on the bed, I slipped through the door, walking through the barely lit hallway filled with memories from my childhood up until now. One of the most recent pictures was right next to the staircase, it was of my eighteenth birthday. I was never into parties and big crowds, so the picture only had my parents, brother, and best friend in it. Oh and obviously me! Just as I made my way down the stairs, my mom called out again, "Christina are you coming?"

"Yes, mom, I'm here," I sighed with exhaustion as I took my seat in front of the island. "Why are you up so early? It's Saturday," I tried to say without yawing but failed miserably.

"I can ask you the same thing," she placed a delicious plate with eggs and bacon with potato pancakes on the side. "To answer your question though, I am going to work early to go to a meeting, so I won't be home until around 8:00."

As I said my thanks, I picked up the fork and barely noticed her attire. She was wearing a suit with a skirt. I opened my mouth and said, "why would they make you go to work on the weekend? That is torture," I stabbed the eggs first and took a bite, leaving the bacon for last because saving the best for last was just something I always did.

"I know it is, I'll see you later, love you," She kissed my cheeks and walked out the door.

"Love you too, mom!"

When the door closed and I was left alone in the kitchen, I continued to eat my food in peace. I can't believe I am graduating high school in two weeks! I thought to myself, unfortunately my happy thoughts were disturbed. A loud slam was heard from upstairs. "Stop slamming the door!" I yelled at Nathan, my younger brother. He is five years younger than I am, and also the most annoying little crap in the world.

A few seconds later, a cold breeze hits me. It was quiet in the house and Nathan was not around. He probably left and didn't close the door. As I shook my head, I got up and made my way to the entrance of the house, to find the door wide opened. "Little crap," I whispered under my breath and close the door. As I made my way to the kitchen, I found Nathan in my sitting at my spot, eating my food. "What the hell are you doing?!" I march to him and slap his arm hard.

"The hell is your problem?!" He yelled as he dropped the fork on the floor.

"Why did you leave the door opened? It's freaking cold," I pushed him off the chair and picked the fork up, then dropped in the sink.

As I searched the drawers for a new one, Nathan responded with, "I didn't open any damn door you psycho b-," before he finished his smartass sentence, he stopped and held his breath.

"Finish the sentence, I dare you," when I found my fork, I turned around, angry with how annoying he is, to find blood escaping his mouth and a knife sticking out his mouth. Behind him was a tall...thing? There was no way to describe what the hell this thing was. Screaming, I turned my head and dropped my fork to get the big kitchen knife. "Get the hell away from me!" This thing started to make its way toward me around the kitchen island. I went the opposite way slowly, "Someone help me!!!!"

The black shadow took its hood off and showed the pale face with blood coming out of the eyes and mouth. "No one can help you here, Crissy," he said as he smiled and ran my way.

Trying to escape, I cried and went for the door, struggling to unlock it, "C'mon! Open," I cried. Right when I unlocked it, I felt something pointy hit my back, and it made its way to my chest. My mouth was opened wide and blood was escaping it, then everything went black.

"AHHH!!!" I yelled as loud as I ever have in my life and jumped out of my bed. Breathing heavily, I touched my chest and found no hole, no blood, only sweat. Sweat was running all over my body and I could barely breathe. I felt something coming up my throat, so I fell on the floor and reached for the trashcan and threw up; holding my hair up to make sure it does not get touched by the vomit.

"It was all a nightmare, just a nightmare..."

As I heard a knock coming from my door, I jumped and almost yelled. "Honey are you alright?! Open the door!"

It was my mom, I walked to the door and unlocked the door her mom was struggling to open. "Mom, oh my God I was so scared," I said as I grabbed her and squeezed tightly.

"What happened?!" Her mom asked in fear, grabbing my head to look me in the eyes.

"I had a nightmare, and I was stabbed in the back and died,"

She noticed I was still breathing heavily and grabbed my arms, "Oh honey I'm sorry."

I saw that she was wearing her business attire, just like the dream, no the nightmare. "Are you going to a meeting today, on a Saturday...?" I asked nervously.

"How did you know it was a meeting? And yes I am," she releases me from the hug and says, "I need to go, but if you're hungry, here is $20, go get yourself something to eat, love you honey, be safe," she kissed my cheeks and ran down the stairs, trying not to fall from her high heels.

"Mom!" Before she said that, her mom was already down and out of the house.

"It was just a nightmare... just a nightmare..."
