Of course they were going to come out. That was such a dumb move Y/N! They just wanted some time to themselves after the concert and now you just ruined it. I couldn't help think these things to myself as I ran out onto the stage and started to slow down.
"Wow," I breathed out as I walked onto the stage. I didn't really look out into where the crowd would sit when I came by before. It was absolutely amazing what Josh and Tyler got to do basically everyday. Josh's drums were still out with Tyler's keyboard and my feet lead me over to his drums. His sticks weren't there so I'm guessing they were in the dressing room with him. I sat down behind them and just imagined what it'd be like to play them. To play in front of people who love you and what you do. If only I knew how to play the drums, this would be even more perfect.
I was in my own little world imagining the crowd, Tyler singing next to me, and me pounding on the drums when I heard someone start to talk.
"Pretty amazing isn't it?" Crap. I would recognize that voice from anywhere. I stood up and turned slowly towards Josh where he was leaning up next to the keyboard. We stared at each other for a minute. Him, wondering who I was, and me, trying not to fangirl really hard over my favorite drummer. This continued for what seemed like eternity until he cleared his throat.
"So... what were you doing outside of our dressing room?" Oh man. Now I have to explain myself.
"Well, I..." and I continued to tell him my story. When I got to the part where I didn't want to disturb them, he chuckled to himself.
"What's so funny?" I asked.
"I think you are one of the very few fans to do that and to respect our privacy. Most just bang on the door until we answer or security drags them away."
I couldn't help blushing and just looked at my feet. I didn't really know how to respond to that. I have always felt sympathy for how famous people are bombarded all the time. They're hardly ever given time for themselves.
"Tell you what. For that, why don't you come in and we can take pictures and stuff while you finish downloading your app."
I couldn't help but feel excited but even a little, dreadful? I was still thinking about running away as my feet lead me to Josh's outstretched hand. I took it with no question and took in his callused yet soft hands. I'm actually holding hands with Josh Dun. THE Josh Dun. Haha stupid Holly and Breanna ditched me and this happened! Suckers are going to be so miserable when they hear about this, and their hangover is going to suck too. We arrived at Tyler's and Josh's room as I was imagining how I was going to rub it into Holly and Breanna's face. We walked in and the room actually wasn't very far off on how I guessed it. There was a desk with little lights lining the mirror tucked into the corner on the right, couches all along the left and back wall with a slightly smaller drum set and portable keyboard in the middle with disco light hanging from the ceiling. A strobe light blinded my left eye when we walked in, but Josh kept on walking.
Tyler and Jenna were sitting down in front of us and Josh let go of my hand to sat down next to Tyler. I stood there awkwardly for a second and sat next to Jenna considering she probably wouldn't mind me next to her. All three of them leaned out and looked at me questioningly. "So, what's your story?" Tyler asked. I retold what had happened to me and the entire time they just listened. At the end Jenna asked, "You've got some friends there... what's your name?" "Y/N," I answered back.
"Right. So now that you're connected back to the wifi, you can finish what you needed and hang out with some of the coolest people ever," she said as she winked and smiled warmly at me. Holy crap, these are the most amazing people I've ever met. I couldn't help but smile back as I got back onto my phone.
Since the wifi was pretty sucky, I was stuck there for another hour. Did I say stuck? More like blessed to be in their presence for another hour.
We took pictures and they gave me a signed t-shirt and poster. After that, Josh and Tyler continued to play their game, which I figured out to be a slightly modified version of basketball. Jenna and I sat on our phones a good part of the time, but would occasionally look up and laugh at the boys. As it got late, Tyler laid down onto Jenna's lap and she started to play with his hair. Man, they're so freaking cute. Couple goals! I laughed a little at myself thinking that I sounded so mainstream and like a white chick. "What's so funny?" Josh asked shyly as he plopped down next to me. Oops. I was laughing not just in my head but on the surface as well. "Nothing. I just had a funny thought," I replied back.
"Okay," Josh said as he pulled out his phone.
I checked the Uber app again and it finally finished downloading. It took me a second to figure out how to work it, but I finally found someone to come get me and drive a couple of hours. Only I ran into a slight problem. I didn't have enough money to go the distance. Crap! What the heck do I do now?
I guess my worry showed on my face because Josh leaned over and asked what was wrong. I was embarrassed about it so I just told him, "Oh nothing. Just figuring out how to work this," I said with a small not-so-reassuring smile.
"I'm calling bull on that. What's really wrong?" Josh looked at me like a parent scolding a child.
"Wellll... I kinda don't have money to get home..." I answered hesitantly. "But in sure I'll work something out with the driver," I added quickly before he could reply.
"Thank you guys so so much for the pictures, poster, and t-shirt. I'm gonna go find my ride," I said to all three of them as I started to walk out. Tyler and Jenna didn't hear the conversation that Josh and I just had, so they got up and hugged me goodbye.
"I hope you make it home alright," Jenna said to me as I started to leave. "Thanks!" I replied over my shoulder. I hope so too sister.
