Ein x Aphmau <Einmau> Oneshot - Distant

Silence lingered in the room. A glooming presence looming in the air as the two stood on opposite sides of the room, both glaring at one another. The female's hand twitched as she flicked her wrist, showing a fist.

"Ein," The female greated, her tenseness not subsiding. The male werewolf nodded in response, his ears twitching back in hesitation. "I thought I said we'd be picking the omega together," She finished, an angered frown whisking over her face.

Ein's stud smile dropped. Hesitantly, he opened his mouth, ready to speak, and yet, not a single word escaped his mouth. Shutting his lips, he tipped his head, his eyes grazing the floor.

"Daniel, of all people Ein?" Aphmau took a step closer to him, tilting her head as she tried to regain her eye contact with him. "You know that he isn't looked down upon, so why did you pick him? Because he's fragile?" She kept pushing as she strode closer to him.

"Aphmau, you know that they were the weakest. This isn't about favoritism, it's about dominance, it's how us werewolves work," Ein tried explaining calmly, not once looking up.

Aphmau stopped in her tracks, sitting on the corner of her lip. "I-I know, I know this is how it works. He told me they were almost the omegas last year, and I understand we would have had to pick one of them," Aphmau paused, looking over her shoulder.

"You should have at least waited, and allowed me to help you pick. You promised we'd do this together," Sighing, she turned back to face Ein. Bringing her hand to her temple, she sighed.

"Nevermind, I can't pick a fight with you... I wouldn't have the heart to do that," Walking back to the corner of the room she once stood at, she quickly picked her purple backpack up, zipping it up without hesitation.

"I'll see you next week, I just need some time," Aphmau waved him off as she bluntly walked passed him angerly. Pushing open the doors of the werewolf classroom, she allowed them to slam loudly behind her as she stomped away.

It was two weeks later at the current date. Aphmau was sitting outside of the school upon a bench, sitting beside her crush, Kai.

They were starting up a small conversation about Kai's interest upon Katelyn. He hadn't spoken about her since the movie date, if you could even call it a date that is.

Aphmau was curious none of the less. She wanted to know what happened about his small obsession on her, and why he hadn't brought her up. However, Kai seemed to be dodging all the questions of her, and continued moving the subject along.

The two were quietly laughing now as the looked away from one another, a light tint of blush covering each of their cheeks.

This was the perfect moment for the two. Aphmau had the chance to be able to speak to her crush, and Kai had the perfect opportunity to take advantage of this situation, and ask Aphmau if she'd like to hang out once they left school.

However, this perfect moment had to be interrupted by the innocent voice that belonged to the Alpha Male werewolf.

"E-excuse me, Aphmau?" Aphmau's laughter silenced immediately as she jerked her head to glare at Ein. "I'm sorry if I'm interrupting something, b-but can we talk?" He questioned, getting a blunt glare from Kai.

"U-uh n-now? R-right now isn't a g-good time... I was just talking to Kai," Aphmau tried thinking of a way to get him away so she could stay a bit longer with Kai. Just, a second longer.

"No, no. It's okay, Aphmau. Go talk to Ein, it may be important," With that said, Kai quietly picked his bag up. Waving to Aphmau, he began down the stairs of the school, ready to head home.

Aphmau stayed silent for a moment as she watched Kai walk away. Her heart began to race, as the urge of following after him grew.

"Aphmau, it's been two weeks since we spoken..." Ein finally said, scratching the back of his neck as he did so. "...And?" Aphmau interjected, glaring up at him with hurtful eyes.

"I want to apologize, I want us to go back to.. us," He quickly blurted out, tilting his head down to stare at the concrete.

"I know, I should have waited so we could pick the omega together... But, I wanted to do something for you, so you'd have one less thing to worry about. I didn't expect you'd get that mad, and I'm sorry for the way you found out..." Ein sighed, picking his head up.

"I don't want you to be so distant from me... We're friends, aren't we? I know I surely look to you as a friend... And I have looked to you as a friend for so long. You were the only one who's been nice to me this whole time," Ein finished, his eyes glistening. His nose was tinted with a rosiness, looking like he was about to cry.

Aphmau paused, looking away from him as she stood from the bench, picking up her bag.

"Apology, not accepted."

With that said, she walked away from him.

After that day, Ein became harsh. Someone no one recognized. He used people afterward for his own benefit, which only lead to the backlash at Aphmau.

A month after, Blaze challenged Ein for the alpha position. Ein was again, at the bottom of the chain. Back to the omega, were no one respected anymore, not even Aphmau.

The two grew distant, very distant. It shattered Ein's heart and forced him to make rash decisions.

Why did this heartbreak ruin him? It was because a werewolf shouldn't get close to a human. It just doesn't work. He allowed himself to become fond of her and even fell in love with her. That is why it hurt so much to become, distant.
