The Hybrid Queen [1]

Chapter Eleven

PART ONE:

"Why am I feeling like this?"

"Because you're my mate, my soulmate."

****12 HOURS BEFORE****

Sepherus POV:

Katherine and I had  been sparring for about an hour or so and I was completely convinced that she was a hybrid. Half vampire half werewolf. I knew it the moment after she fainted in  the forest training section when her bones started cracking and I had to break her neck in order to stop the transformation.

To this point, Her skin was burning hot, her eyes changed from blue to yellow. Sometimes her eyes change to the signature vampire eyes. Black and red. She was a little bit unstable. It was because the full moon was close to fill itself. But she was  beautiful to  watch.

She hit hard but I hit harder. I wasn't going to let her win. I couldn't. I needed to impress her.

Winning her heart mode: Activated.

Trying to impress her mode: Activated.

"Alright Katherine, try to hit me with all you've got. I'll do my best to dodge. " I smirk to Katherine and she just glared at me. "You don't think I can hit you?" She said. "No." I said taunting her. "You'll see that I actually can." She got into a stance ready to start running. This was the perfect opportunity to get her to touch me. Have a direct contact with my skin. She will feel the sparks.

Because I also needed her touch.

But let me explain. Only purebloods have mates. Why? It is a mechanism that in the past helped the vampire race  expand throughout the world. Yes werewolves have mates. They have them and it's normal for them but for vampires it's rare. Rare because purebloods are few compare to the massive human-vampire kind. Right now there is just the royal family, the royal guards, headmaster Elizabeth and me. I thought I didn't have a mate because everyone I knew had a partner. But when Katherine a.k.a Katherina was born my life was flipped over.

When she was born I was scare. It was the only time I had ever felt scare. Scare because in the treaty between vampires and humans , vampires were prohibited to procreate. That is the reason why we vampires capture a person every single year. But the queen was an exception. One that cost her a lot...

I felt fear because I had to give her to the humans in order to protect her. Scare I might see her falling in love with a human. I don't despise humans but they are not my favorite cup of tea. Thankfully she was the type of girl who liked being alone. Reading, watching Netflix series, which I watched as well to keep up with her. Obviously. The type of girl I fell completely in love with.

"Hey! Snap out of it! I'm talking to you Professor!" Katherine was already mad. I had tune out of what she was telling. What a great way to conquer her! She started running towards me and jumped into the air. She swung her sword, I blocked her and I took advantage of grabbing her sword to trip her. But she was clever  and trip me as well. We both fell on the floor. And since I was being lucky today that She fell on top of me.

The sparks were overwhelming and it was amazing. I hope she can feel them. "I tripped you!" She quickly got up and she held her hand towards me. This was my mayor opportunity. I grabbed her hand and pull her towards me. She was caught off guard and she fell next to me. "Ouch! That was not fair!" She pouted. "You should never be caught off guard."

Since she's a hybrid, she must feel things in a more intensive measure.

Right ?That's my hope.

Katherine's POV:

The sparing section was great. It had made me feel relax. But there was a feeling at the pit of my stomach that made me feel weird every time I touched Mr.Echeverry. But I soon forgot about that when I remember about the theories he had.

"So, Mr.Sepherus what are your theories?" He sat up since he was laying in the floor. His sword transformed to his normal katana. "Well, I have two theories. The first one is that you're a pureblood vampire, maybe you weren't human at all. Second you can be a hybrid. Your body anatomy is like one of that of a wolf. You're eyes change, you have a constant fever, and your bones crack a lot. Those are the first symptoms of a wolf's first transformation" I was amazed about his theories. But these theories opened a whole new confusion in my mind. " And when will I learn if I'm a hybrid? How can I be a wolf and a vampire at the same time?" "Well, maybe one of your parents was a vampire and another a werewolf. It's the only reasonable explanation. Although it is rather impossible since werewolves were supposed to be extinct. And werewolves and vampires tend to hate each other. But you transformed like a pureblood and you weren't kill by the werewolf bite/venom. Maybe my bite trigger your vampire DNA and the werewolf bite trigger your wolf, that would explain the wolf talking to you in your head."

So, he remembered the bite of the werewolf. I had the same curiosity when I did die of the bite.

He was right. Maybe he was completely right. "And do I shift every single moon?"  I didn't want to endure pain every single month. I already have my period to thank for my cramps. "What I have heard is that a hybrid with training will learn to partially shift or not shift at all. In your case tomorrow in the full moon so we will find out if you're a hybrid or not. The first transformation is the only one you can't control. But with training you can completely awaken all your natures. I know that they are still partially asleep."

I suddenly felt scare. I didn't want to be hybrid. Or a pureblood. That would mean my parents were not my parents and that all my life has been a lie.  I started to feel the tears in my eyes. "Hey Katherine,  what's wrong?" Mr.Sepherus said softly. He got closer to me and hugged me when treacherous tears rolled down my face. "Shhhh, everything is going to be okay..." He said softly, stroking my head. " I just feel scare. This is all very overwhelming and I feel that you are correct, and if that's the case, who am I? Who are my real parents? what am I?"

I just felt tired. "Don't worry Katherina, everything is going to be alright." Did he just say Katherina? The same name the queen used on me. I separated from the hug. "Why did you call me Katherina? " I saw just a tiny lit bit of surprise in his eyes. "I am a very old vampire. And Katherina just makes your name sound more...elegant." Okay... Weird. "Yeah, sure. " I decided to leave the topic there. We got up and decided that it was enough for today. "Thank you professor, I feel much better. Well I still have a lot of questions but I guess that we will find out with time." "It's alright Katherine, I will help you all the way through. Tomorrow be very careful and if you feel a constant fever and your bones cracking, contact me." I nodded and headed towards my room.

Angelina was waiting for me even though it was about 2 am in the morning. "You are so ungrateful! I've been worry sick about you!" "I'm sorry Angelina. I was just very stressed out." I sat next to her on the bed. "I know but that doesn't mean I'm not here for you!" I was feeling guilty that I hadn't seen her before. "I know Angelina, I'm so sorry. I don't know what is happening to me lately...Please forgive me." I said hugging her. "I know Katherine. It's okay. Just tell me everything!" Angelina said. And I did.

"Wow!   Incredible Mr.Echeverry being nice! You must be a hybrid then.You have to be something special! Tomorrow we have to be  extra careful! " Angelina said standing up. "Yes... I hope that I don't have to turn. I mean I just want to be a normal bookworm vampire." "Haha, I don't think so, those theories are just so...point on! I mean, that would explain why you have been having dreams with the queen. Maybe she's a relative of yours and is maybe that's the reason why she is trying to communicate with you! That would explain his theory for you being a pureblood. But the werewolf part is still quite confusing..." Angelina did had a point there.

"Well, let's see what happens tomorrow. Meanwhile we have to get ready for normal class." I said as I went to my closet and try to find my uniform. I didn't want to overthink the situation. I will have to wait for tomorrow and hope I didn't turn at all and that I end up being a normal vampire.
