-October 31st, 1981, Rosetti Household-

Aubrey Rosetti sighed as she looked over to her one year old, Elenora Rosetti. Lying in her cot, eyes open and filled with curiosity at her new surroundings, Elenora yawned.

She gave a minor smile as her daughter yawned. A smile which was soon wiped off her face as she remembered what was happening around her.

The redheaded 21-year-old shook this matter off and stepped towards her window, muttering about how precious the muggle and wizard children looked as they went from door to door asking for sweets.

Aubrey smiled fondly at the memory of when she was little and going wild about wanting to start trick-or-treating early.

She even laughed when she recalled the bewildered expressions of her parents when they confusedly asked her and her sister why they wanted to go out and interact with muggles.

Looking back at her child, Aubrey gave another grin when she thought of buying Elenora a little witch costume that muggles sell, and sending her out with the other kids.

Unfortunately, Aubrey couldn't do that, for she was too worried that You-Know-Who may plan an attack. Soon, a pang of worry hit her when thinking of Lily and James Potter, and especially their son, Harry Potter. The one prophesied to defeat the dark lord, Voldemort.

Lily and Aubrey had been good friends for ages and met at Hogwarts, hitting it off quickly. Lily made her place in Gryffindor whilst Aubrey was sent off to Hufflepuff.

Even though they did have very different houses, Lily and Aubrey still remained good friends. Even when Lily had started dating James, which cut off some time that Lily and Aubrey spent together. Nonetheless, their friendship remained as strong as ever.

Aubrey's eyes widened suddenly as she was cut off from her train of thought. The ground began shaking beneath her. Turning away from the grey window, the woman's eyes widened.

"Elenora!" she cried as the ground shook with extreme force, making the small cottage start shaking.

Aubrey dived towards the cot as soon as she heard the walls start crumbling. Cradling the now crying child to her chest, Aubrey quickly grabbed her wand and ran out of her almost demolished cottage.

As Elenora whined helplessly, Aubrey looked around Godric's Hollow warily, noting that it had quickly become deserted.

Aubrey's fears were confirmed true as she saw a flash of green light from the cottage the Potter's lived in.

Aubrey felt her breath hitch and tightened her hold on Elenora. She was aware that James and Lily had a fidelius charm placed on them. It seemed to be broken now, as the house was fully noticeable and smothering in smoke and rubble.

From the small window on the second floor of the Potter's place, Aubrey saw a hint of red, fiery hair.

"S-She's alive..." whispered Aubrey into the cold night, a wistful smile ripping across her face. "I pray Harry is too..."

Elenora gurgled just as Aubrey began wrapping her blanket around her. She resembled a bundle now, Aubrey noted, but made sure that she was warm enough before placing the infant on the sidewalk carefully.

"I'll be back, Elenora..." Aubrey stated as she turned to face the Potter cottage. Her grip on the unicorn core wand tightened. "...I promise it..."

Aubrey clenched her wand tightly as she sprinted into the Potter's home. Tears had welled up at the edge of her eyes when she had passed the corpse of James Potter.

Though Aubrey wasn't too fond of him in the beginning when he began pestering Lily, she grew close with him. Resulting in the two sharing a bond similar to that of siblings.

As Aubrey raced up the steps to the second floor, after saying her goodbyes to James, she heard the voice of nonother than Voldemort. He was screaming at Lily, sometimes even cackling at her sobs as if it were a hilarious joke.

Aubrey felt her blood go cold and her stomach drop when a heart-wrenching scream emitted from Harry's room followed by green light. Shrieking in terror, she ran into the room, viewing Voldemort leaning down towards Harry, who was in his cot. He seemed to be aware of what was happening but unaware as he took a break from wailing to stare up at Voldemort.

"GET AWAY FROM HIM!" she screamed, all fear had been dissovled into the night's fog when she drew her wand and pointed it at Voldemort's back. However, it didn't stay gone for long when dealing with spells, "P-Protego!"

Voldemort laughed and turned to face Aubrey as he deflected the unhelpful spell with ease. Her eyes narrowed at the sight of his red, snake-like eyes.

"Rosetti, I see? A pleasure to see you once again." His cold voice made her shake with fury.

Aubrey scowled and scrambled to think of a curse to protect her and the infant currently whining in the cot. "Stupefy!"

No such luck, seeing as the Lord of Snakes blocked it with a deflective spell. Aubrey cursed under her breath for being rubbish in spell casting.

"Really? That's the best you can come up with, Rosetti? Thought you'd do better."

She heard Voldemort chuckle again as she got infront of Harry's cot and spread her arms out defensively Thinking with adrenaline now pumping in her at this action, she shoved the snake-like man back. "Y-You won't get to him!"

"Silly girl! If you believe in such nonsense then you might as well join your little friend in the afterlife!"

"She never believed in nonsense! She was a mother protecting her child! Doing something human-like, something you wouldn't ever practice!"

"That's how it'll be played, isn't it Rosetti?" Aubrey had a response weld up in her mind, but never wanted to give him the satisfaction of hearing her quivering voice this moment. "Well then? No response, I see." he drawled, in an attempt to make the redhead cave in. She could almost feel the invisible knife that his glare had to her back. "FINE THEN! HAVE IT YOUR WAY! SAY GOODBYE TO ALL YOU LOVE!"

Aubrey felt her bottom lip tremble in fear as she turned around, faced Harry, and protectively spread her arms around the cot. Eyes shut tightly, she could only whisper one more thing before the light hit her, "I'm sorry..."

"AVADA KEDAVRA!" schreeched Voldemort as he pointed his wand at Aubrey, watching her lifeless body fall due to her released grip on the cot, and onto the floor.

"Now..." Voldemort's grin was the only thing that stood out in the pitch black darkness of this night from how murderous it was. "...Harry Potter..."

A/N: Wow, I can't believe I just wrote that! I didn't think I would finish it this quickly. But either way, I think I did pretty good with this. I'm also really glad that this didn't come out as crappy as the other first chapters I had planned. Originally, I wasn't going to have a prologue, or even mention Aubrey a lot, but I'm kinda glad I did do a prologue, since I feel like it sets some kind of mood. Anyway, thanks for reading this! Bye!
