The girl almost burst as she managed to obtain a quill, fresh piece of parchment, and her bottle of ink, placing all the things down along a near window before she could get to the writing.
Her heart swelled, as if it were to break out of her rib cage when she sat down, hands fumbling for the quill. As soon as she'd gotten a hold of the item, however, was when her hands began to get clammy. Oh Merlin, not right now...Not when Elenora would finally get the chance to release all the frustration and anxiety bubbling.
The young girl took in a deep breath, steadying her mind, or attempting, as she readied her quill onto the parchment and was soon off, writing away.
Dear Ginny,
I've finally arrived at Hogwarts. It's big and grand, and as amazing as you and I envisioned it. There's all tons of exciting and difficult classes here, and not to mention the teachers as well. The houses are something to gawk at as well. As you know there's four, and they all are great.
Elenora held in her breath as she continued writing, silently cringing as she let all the frustration flow to her fingertips and out her quill.
I got Gryffindor, Gin. Bloody Gryffindor, something that I feared getting for months. I didn't think it'd ever be possible, Ginny, seeing as I've tried for months and months to study as best as I could. With this on my plate now, I don't know how it'll be possible to explain it to Aunt Cecilia!
She let go of the breath, slightly relieved as the quill continued scratching against the parchment.
Ravenclaw was something Aunt Cecilia cherished, and I was the one to ruin it. Instead of being a wise and witty Ravenclaw, I'm supposed to be mingling with the irritating and too-loud-for-their-own good Gryffindors.
Unconsciously, a minor frown had begun to form across Elenora's lips. It'd come across that Ginny would likely be swayed by Elenora's opinions on the house, and that was something that made the noirette furrow her eyebrows at. She wouldn't ever forgive herself if Gin was persuaded to think Gryffindor was complete trash.
In Elenora's mind, it was one of the worst things that could've happened to her. If Ginny got Gryffindor, though? Would the girl behave the same way she did?
Sudden knot in her stomach, Elenora shook the ridiculous idea off and went back to scribbling on the parchment. However, that was something that lasted quite a few moments, considering the fact that Elenora couldn't restrain herself from terrifying ideas of Ginny despising Gryffindor.
She felt the sweat glide within her palms, and the action made her grimace in dissatisfaction. Why was this always her reaction to anything?
This wasn't anything, though. It was Ginny Weasley, and Elenora couldn't bear the thought of her loathing Gryffindor. After all, it lived on in her family.
Ginny, don't be persuaded by the things I'm saying in this letter, please. I wouldn't be able to bear any of that when you arrive next year. It'd be horrible knowing I influenced someone by my own selfish rants.
It was relieving, that much Elenora could say. Not entirely, though. Although, when was the worry that always swam through Elenora's thoughts ever drained?
On that note, how have you been? Of course, it's only been a day but I want to hear all about it. Did Mrs. Weasley made her famous French Toast yet? It'd be a shame if I missed that one. Has Mr. Weasley brought in more of his muggle toys?
For your upcoming arrival to Hogwarts, are you excited? I'm hoping to sit with you on the train next year, which is a definite probability considering the fact that I don't have many friends yet. No worries, since you and I'll stick together on the train, and in Hogwarts.
Since I'm asking a handful of questions about your day, I'll explain some stuff about mine. Our first class was Professor McGonagall, who teaches Transfiguration. At first, I thought the subject would be quite easy, considering I'd read all my textbooks quite often. However, the odds were not in my favor.
It was near impossible. The only girl who got to change something was Hermione Granger, and hers transformed fully. Unbelievable, that I read everything to do with all the subjects yet I find myself becoming incompetent at them.
I've made a friend or two, as well. Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil. They seem to be very nice, and Lavender tried her best to convince me Gryffindor wasn't such a bad thing. That didn't work so well, but I appreciated her tender efforts-
The darkening night had caught Elenora's eye, and she realized just how late it could be. Merlin, she had dinner to attend to!
Jotting down the last of her thoughts, Elenora had to promise herself not to write much more as she soon scribbles down the last of her letter and the address.
It was as Elenora had begun to put her things away, that she glanced at a glimpse of the Owl's wing as it soared through the purple sky, swaying slightly before disappearing completely into the misty clouds with Ginny's letter.
A grin had fallen onto Elenora's face.
