By the time I release this, I hope you're still my best friend. I hope you see this and realize who's writing this. I hope you immediately recognize that I'm referring to you when I say you. And I seriously hope you realize that everything I say in this book is one-hundred percent true. I'm being serious, for once. As my best friend, I thought you should know all of this. Especially since best friends are supposed to tell each other everything. But, they're also supposed to make fun of each other. We did a hell of a job of doing that, didn't we? It was always you poking fun at something I said and me making fun of all of your typos. And there were a lot to make fun of. We never held back from each other. Apparently best friends are also supposed to be those two people who're always hanging out.
We never hung out.
We never had any real one-on-one time with each other. We, though it sounds stupid, only messaged each other. I would shoot a message, you would reply, then we would be up until two in the morning on a completely different topic. We became friends because we took time out of our day to get onto an app just to make sure that the other knew we were there. Everyday.
Best friends are there for each other, and there's no doubt that, that's true when it comes to you and I. If there was even one look of sadness or a hint of sickness, I'd get a message. "Are you okay?". You were there for me through the hardest times. Through my stages of depression that only you truly knew about. Through the anxiety and pain. I always had you to lean on for my support. Figuratively, I had you to lean on. It's not possible to lean on you over messages, that's crazy (there's that sarcastic humor we love).
But maybe I should back this all up a bit. I shouldn't jump straight into what I want. I shouldn't be making all of this demands with nothing to back them up. I should start from the beginning. Not the beginning of time, dork, but from where we actually started talking to each other. That'll make all of this ten times easier to get through.... and ten times easier for you to realize exactly who this is.
