I looked at the blank computer screen that said 'APPLICATION DECLINED'

I couldn’t believe my luck. I didn’t get in. First breaking up with my ex-boyfriend Jai Brooks and now this... How could my life get any harder!

I applied for the Immediate Song Writing Competition which would be held in LA. I was so excited and I thought it would give me the break I needed to live out my dream. But I guess not, right?

I threw my hands in the air and stomped them onto my laptop that was open in front of me. I could feel my throat closing and my hands shaking. My heart felt like it was being crushed and pressured at the same time, I couldn't handle it.

Maybe it wasn't met to be... maybe I could just be a teacher like I planned. But, a little voice in my head said 'What If'. My heroes told me to NEVER SAY NEVER and to BELIEVE IN MY DREAMS. I wasn't going to let nothing stop me, not my dad and definitely not a stupid song writing competition that didn't let me through.


I scrolled down the screen to find other song writing competitions open. All for boys…. SHIT... wait....

I have a boy wig in my room.... Interesting?

All immediate song writers can enter here below and get a chance to work with Justin Bieber for a month. You will have tutorials with him. He will pick the best one. Once, he has chosen a winner. The winner will have a record deal with Scooter Braun Enterprises.

I stared at it in disbelief.  This could be my break.

Justin Bieber was hosting the competition too. I always liked him. He is one of my heroes that inspire me everyday. He came from humble beginnings and was given the opportunity to sing and travel the world. Like I've always wanted to do. He always stayed so positive regardless of all the bull shit the media put him through.

I started to type in my details. I made my name 'Jake Grande'.

*FEW DAYS LATER*

I was watching TV at home. I got a text:


“Thanks for applying to the Boys Song writing Competition Jake. We really like your application and we’d really like you to attend the tutorial that is happening @ Scooter Braun Enterprises in LA. Thanks. See You. Justin Bieber”


I felt my eyes pop out of my eye sockets. Justin texted me. As in Justin Bieber? The biggest teen sensation. The boy girls fawned over even if they knew they'd never get a chance to be with him. The boy I fell in love with in 2010 because of his music and how much passion he put into his music. He believed in himself and that's what  I needed to do. I had the same passion as he had. Why would I question myself? I always believed if you were given an opportunity you should take it with both hands and do it.

I know being a guy would be completely out of the question and I shouldn't even be thinking about it. But it was the only opportunity I had. I'm only 16 at the moment I just wanted to try. I wanted to show everyone what I was made of. I didn't care if I could get into trouble... I just wanted people to believe me. I needed to prove it to myself and others.
