I stared at him blankly.
"Lina it's me.. it's jack" he said. I faced Johnson.
"So let's get started." I said. Nate bit his lip to keep from laughing and Sammy made an obvious yikes face.
"Seriously Lina?" Jack said. I started sizing Stassie, and she loved everything I was showing her. I started giving the guys some things to try, and handed jack some stuff.
"If they don't fit. I'll tailor them, or alter or if you want me to change something. Let me know" I said.
"Communication is key. Remember that" I said sarcastically. I heard Johnson cover his laugh with a cough.
"Lina you should come to eat with us. It's been a while" Nate said, he was fixing his button down in the mirror i scrunched my nose up and shook my head.
"You're not a button down kind of guy" I said. He laughed and took his shirt off.
"But alright that sounds fun. Where to?" I asked.
"You can pick" Johnson said. That's how our friendship worked. After the guys trying things on, we all got in our cars. We decided on Cheesecake Factory. We all got seated, and the guys left me to be facing Jack. I intently looked at the menu, even though I knew what I wanted.
"Don't know why you're looking at the menu like you don't know it already" he said. I shot him a look.
"Oh now you're concerned with what I'm doing?" I asked.
"What's that supposed to mean?" He countered.
"Okay children play nice" Sammy said. I rolled my eyes. After we ordered, Johnson took my phone out of my hand.
"Excuse me." I said.
"It's been almost 2 years. You're spending time with us now.." he said looking at my phone.
"Ooooh Chandler could wait. He won't die without knowing if your dates still on for Friday" he teased.
"Chandler? As in Chandler we graduated with Chandler?" Sammy said.
"We is a lot of people. Chandler I graduated with yes." I said. Sammy rolled his eyes.
"Same shit. When did this happen?" He asked.
"He asked me out the other day. No big deal" I said. Jacks jaw locked. He absolutely HATED Chandler. They always seemed to butt heads.
"He's a dick" jack said.
"I wonder why you guys don't get along then, you have something in common. " I said. Nate erupted in a fit of laughter.
"I'm sorry G but she got you there" he said. He rolled his eyes and after dinner we all split the check.
"Let's go to the beach. Are you in a rush Lina?" Johnson asked. I shook my head. I followed them to the closest beach and we all sat on the sand. After catching up, Johnson, Sammy, and Nate went to the water. Leaving Jack and I. Midst texting Chandler, my phone died in my hand.
"Great.." I whispered.
"Now we can talk" jack said. I tilted my head to the side.
"Why would I wanna talk to you"
"Come on Lina.. you can't really be mad at me.." he said. Anger began bubbling up inside me
"Lina let's talk.." he whispered. I scoffed and grabbed my purse.
"I have nothing to say to you" I said
"We were best friends Lina.. you can't ignore that even if you tried" he said.
"I can try pretty hard" I said standing.
"What did I do to you?!" Jack yelled. I kept walking, making sure to not turn back. I felt him grab on my arm and make me spin and face him.
I faced him.
"What did you do? You fucking abandoned me.. my best friend took off to pursue his career and left me in the dust. He broke promises he said he would never do! And you did" I started choking up. Tears began to form in my eyes.
"You let the money and the fucking fame get to your head.. and you're not the same Jack I knew. You're not the Jack who would constantly visit. Because once you turned 18, you changed. You forgot all about me and little Omaha huh? It may be 2 years ago, you still are yet to apologize to me.. the person you hurt most. And then you wonder why I hate you." I said, tears falling out of my eyes.
"Lina.." he whispered.
"No fuck you jack. How does it feel? Being a big shot? I bet it feels amazing.." I said. He opened his mouth, but it seemed like he had no words to let out.
"I waited.. I waited forever the night of prom for my best friend. I had to ride with chandler and Sofia because my best friend didn't show up. I spent almost my whole night sitting down, waiting for you. Waiting for you to walk in the doors, even though everyone said you weren't coming. You promised me you were gonna be there.. you promised. I should've known better. And then on top of that.. you didn't show up to graduation... my grandma saved you a seat.. for nothing.. you played your own best friend" I said. My tears began to fall.
"Lina please don't cry.. I can't see you cry.." he whispered. He was choking up.
"You wonder why I have nothing to say to you? Because you're not my best friend anymore. I don't know who you are anymore jack. I don't wanna stick around to find out either.." I whispered.
"No Lina don't say that.. I can fix this" he said. I shook my head.
"You've had two years to fix it jack.. I waited to years for my best friend to get his shit together.." I said.
"Tell the guys I went home.. I'll see you guys around. Let me know about the clothes and shit." I said.
"Don't go Lina.." he said. I turned, and started walking towards my car, wiping my face. I hadn't let that out in forever. I made my way home, and went straight to shower. It felt like a break up. Only 10x worse. I went straight to bed.
