Optimus couldn't stop looking at her.
He was in shock. Lilliana. Lilliana. Lilliana. Her name was like a blessing from Primus himself. He had a voice to all those whispers from his past, a person who embodied the presence, an owner to the lips who had stolen his spark.
He couldn't stop staring.
But it seemed neither could she.
As she pressed her lips to his forehead, as she kissed his digits, as every word she spoke was of them-he swore his spark was going to burst. He had never, never in all his thousands of years, through all of his personal anguishes, through all the pain of battle and war, never had he felt so...helpless. But it was, a nice, helpless? He didn't know how to explain it. It was as if his spark was being crushed, but it felt good. It felt right. All of the pain of not knowing who it was rushed back to him, so hard the air was ripped from his chest. But then it was replaced with an overwhelming joy that rushed through his energon like fire at the speed of light with the knowledge of it, being her. His processor just couldn't wrap around it all.
"Optimus?" She asked, tilting her face up delicately.
Her voice made his eyes widen. He had been completely lost in his thoughts of her. Now he was ungraciously thrust back into reality. With no sound he grabbed her from the bed, gently of course, and held her fragile body in the palms of his servos. He transformed around her and she ended up in the passenger's seat. Before she could move he wrapped the seatbelt around her, tightening just enough. She melted into the seat and stroked the fabric, resting her head back and closing her eyes. Optimus let out an unheard, shaking gush of breath. With a sudden start of his engine he pulled out of base. Lilliana hadn't woken up early-it was afternoon by the time she finally had. And after all the questions and then the reunion between Bumblebee, her and himself, several hours had passed. As he drove the sun sank towards the horizon, slowly turning the clear blue sky pink, orange and red. He drove fast, like his wheels were representing the speeding, turning thoughts in his mind. How is it even possible? Why only now had they met? What if the Decepticons had killed her and he never got to? And why were a Prime and an Oracle sparkmates? Did it even make sense?
He pulled off of the road to the side, making his way to the canyons. It was subconscious almost-it was where he always went to think, and where he found her. He slowed as the terrain got rockier and then transformed with Lilliana covered in his servos protectively. As he lifted the servo encasing her, her bright eyes were instantly connected with his. It was almost like a physical blow, the power in those eyes, the emotion woven through them. He reluctantly tore his gaze from hers and looked around. Spotting an arch of stone near the edge of the canyon, he moved to climb up the rock face, jumping as high as he could and holding himself up with one arm as the other held Lilliana. He pulled himself up once, twice, before grasping the top and hauling himself over, still careful not to drop or crush the girl in his servo. He walked beneath the red outcropping, sliding into a sitting position and leaning against the hard earth. He raised a knee and rested his arm on it, flattening his servo so Lilliana could be comfortable.
For a moment neither of them talked. All that was to be heard were the sounds of nature. The sun had bled the sky red before the night sky's navy black abyss took its place. As the world darkened, the universe brightened-and with every second a star appeared, a shimmering pinprick of light that rebelled against the darkness.
Optimus looked once more at Lilliana. Her unusual orbs were wide with the dim, but reflected in them were the stars she gazed at. He felt himself go still as he saw the universe in the silver and green of her eyes.
She turned to look at him.
She smiled.
He felt himself awaken.
"I wish I had the words to express what I was thinking." She started, looking back out.
He couldn't take his optics off her.
"I wish there was a way to explain to you what is happening."
It was like she was pulling him in with some invisible force.
"I know a little more than you, but I still know so little. Really, in the end, we were made to be together. As strange as that seems, a Cybertronian, a Prime with a human, an Oracle. But we are meant for big things Optimus, big things indeed. It's the only thing I can't see clearly, our future together. But as we get closer, we get stronger. The universe will never be the same now that we are finally united."
Everything stopped working. All he had known, all he had thought, shut down. Then it was like for the first time, everything started working. He raised a servo in front of her, and she placed her hand in the center of his. The second they touched he gasped-it was like a wave of energy shot through his body. He felt himself grow more powerful, felt his strength explode like never before. He knew Lilliana was going through the same experience, as her eyes glowed brighter than the stars above them. With deep, steady breaths he calmed. A sense of warmth washed over him.
"So long as we can stay together, so long as I can keep you here with me, I am fine with knowing I know nothing at all. We can figure it out. As one." He said.
She looked at him as tears welled in her eyes. "I've waited so long for this moment." She cried, silent tears trailing down her cheeks.
He was too big to wipe away her tears, so he simply rested his finger on the side of her head. She grasped onto it like a lifeline, and a wave of electricity traveled from her touch to his spark.
"I knew that one day I would meet you. So with that in mind, I thought it wouldn't be too hard. I was so wrong. So wrong indeed. With every single 'visit' I saw you, but couldn't be there. It was torture, and made my heart break." She said
"I never even had a name for you." He started, "I knew you were there, but I never knew who it was. Every time you came my spark would leap-you kept me going through all of it. And on the day I was given my Prime status, when you kissed me...becoming a Prime was nothing compared to what that kiss meant to me. You stole my spark, and when you left it went with you."
She cried with joy as she gazed up at him. "Optimus." It was all she could say.
He lowered his head and ever so tenderly kissed her forehead. "Lilliana."
