I bolt upright, and blink groggily around at my surroundings, attempting to remember how I ended up sleeping in broad daylight. I quickly realize why when I move my legs and feel a searing pain in my right thigh, and upon moving my head, a terrible, pounding headache. Yeah I was immortal, but I could still feel pain, which sucked at times. Times like now.

I manage to stand up, feeling the pain, but pushing it aside. I reach for my staff and when I turn around I am met with a peculiar sight. Trees and bushes had been parted in this straight line on the side of the mountain. They almost resembled a stream or river, but something seemed oddly unnatural...

Ah, damn

I had been so caught up in my mission to find the source of that snow wisp from three nights ago, that I had been deliberately skipping out on sleep. I thought that I would be able to cover more ground and find the source faster. There was only one downside. I ended up falling asleep twice in the daytime. Well, make it three times... Worse yet, it was in mid flight, so both times, including this time, I fell asleep and upon crashing into the ground, I effectively knocked myself out.

I rub my eyes and stare at my leg. A gash, about an inch deep and several inches long, is staring back at me, begging for attention through the use of burning and stinging sensations. I furrow my brow as I use my staff to hover above it, and focus all the power I could muster to heal the wound. I blow air through my gritted teeth as I feel the flesh slowly come back together and repair itself. Though I was getting better, I was in some serious pain. I close my eyes and concentrate for a few seconds more, biting my lower lip to try and distract from the pain, until finally it subsides and I feel my leg return to its normal, non-bothersome state. I tap it one last time to check if it's fine and when it seems to not pose anymore problems, I turn my attention back to the direction at which I was heading before my little "accident". The Northwest. As I turn my eyes I catch a glimpse of something. A star. As I catch this I begin to contemplate about what has transpired over the past few days.

Nothing you idiot, that's what's transpired. I think to myself.

I have searched almost every nomadic tribe for hundreds of miles around, only to be left disappointed when all of them turn out no evidence of an ice power possessor. Now I'm here, staring at a single glistening star way off in the heavens, hoping if it might tell me something, or save me from this eternal loneliness.

"Hell. If it can save me from myself," I say aloud. A long sigh escapes my mouth as I look down, and rub my eyebrows. I close my eyes and try to relax by planting myself to the moment and trying to figure out my next step.

Okay Frost, where are you?

Northwestern Norway.

What's the next and nearest habitable place around this god forsaken area?

I don't know, a kingdom? A couple miles away?

My eyes shoot open at the thought. That's it! I had to look in this kingdom, there is bound to be a large population, so there is a better chance I'll find who I'm looking for! I almost summon the wind when I notice something odd to the left of me.

Was that a twinkle?

Turning around, staff at the ready, I am met with one more reason to look harder in this kingdom.

An ice staircase?

At least what's left of one. There are only two steps, which are barely distinguishable from their melted state, and one drooping railing, but you can tell, this was no sculpture. Upon closer examination I notice it has some sort of design, something in the ice. Squinting to get a better look, it hits me like a snowstorm. It makes my mind start reeling with a wave of a million and one emotions.
