People forget who they are because they are too busy trying to prove to the rest of the world that they are something else.

Chapter Four || Missed Calls and Mercedes.

<previously>

"What are you doing?" Violet asks, as she leans in trying to look over at the screen. Rose is already asleep.

I smirk slightly.

"I'm calling Drew"

* * *

"What?" Violet spat, almost waking Rose up. Her eyes were wide and her mouth hung open as I placed the phone on my ear.

"Shh" I tell her, and she shakes her head in disapproval. She sighs, leaning back on the bed, beside Rose.

"Are you sure about this?" She asks again, lifting her head off the bed, I roll my eyes knowing full well that nothing major will happen from a simple phone call.

But Violet obviously thought otherwise.

"Welcome to the Verizon messaging service, the person you called is unable to take your call-"

I angrily throw the phone on the bed. Voicemail is useless to me because I never leave messages anyway.

"Violet do you think Drew is ignoring me on purpose?"

Violet shakes her head, turning to face me. "I don't think he would intentionally do that, I'm sure he's just a party or something..and in case you forgot, he kinda doesn't know you.."

I nod my head, agreeing. Drew did sound like the type of person who would party all night, and sleep all day. Considering he dated Tatiana and she resembles nothing but a fake bitchy barbie, I wouldn't be surprised.

"Maybe he came to his senses and realised that you're a stranger and you know, stranger danger." Rose adds.

"Senses? No... Drew doesn't have any of them." I bite my lip thinking about where he was, what he was doing until finally realising that I'm an obsessive freak that he is probably creeped out by.

I placed the phone back on the cabinet, before placing the blanket on top of us both. I turned facing her, like we did every night she stayed over.

"You like Drew, don't you?"

The question was unexpected, and I quickly shook my head.

My nose felt itchy, and I knew I would sneeze any second, and I did. Violet rolled her eyes.

"You lied" She pointed out.

"I figured"

"Why do you sneeze every time you lie?" She asked, and I shrugged my shoulders. I didn't really know. It wasn't a genetic factor, because when I asked Sookie if any of my parents sneezed when they lied, and she said none of them did.

Oh well, I still blame them.

I turn my back to her, slowly shutting my eyes. "Good night Violet"

"Night Maddy" Was the last thing I heard, before I let sleep over take me.

....

The next day consisted of me, Rose and Violet watching almost every sappy movie there was and stuffing our faces with junk like ice cream, crisps, chocolate and sweets. Sookie did not approve. But after we invited her to watch one movie with us (and shared some chocolate) she forgot about what the problem was.

Finally Rose's parents came to pick her up and considering how late it was on a school night, Violet also decided to leave. Leaving me to pick up the empty ice cream tubs lying around the ground. The girls can be fun but they are way too messy.
