They were from two different worlds. Two entirely different people. But upon their coming together, they created- they found- their own path and together they had their own world and in their own world, they were the same. Everyone else outside of it- everyone else was over there. Away. And they together- they together were here. They were right here. They were the same.

"Maddy come downstairs" Sookie called for the third time. I groaned, rolling over, before grabbing the pillow and placing it on my ears, blocking out the sound. "Breakfast is made" She yelled. I glanced at my side clock. 6AM. I loved working at the café, but waking up on a weekend, when every other teenager was sleeping, is absolutely torturing.

"Maddy BREAKFAST"

The instant smell of pancakes and maple syrup linger in my nostrils, and I can't help but pounce out of bed in a matter of seconds. I brush my long, brunette wavy hair, and placing it in to a high pony tail, before changing in to my yellow dress. I lightly brushed on some makeup - but keeping it natural.

"Maddy, will you hurry up" Sookie yelled from the bottom of the stairs. "You don't want cold pancakes, do you?"

I grin at the thought of eating cold pancakes. I secure my name tag, and quickly made my way downstairs. But of course, being the socially awkward, clumsy person I am. I tripped down the flight of stairs, and landed on my bum.

"Ouch" I cried, I rub on my bottom, hoping to get rid of the pain, which was no use at all. Sookie rushed over, stretching out her hand to help me up. She was dying to giggle; it was clearly visible on her pale face. How could she find any of this funny?

Letting out a huge groan, I limped my way in to the kitchen, and slowly sat down, hoping not to trip over anything again.

"You wouldn't have tripped over if you tied your shoelaces" She said. "That's not how I bought you up" I nod my head, too tired to answer her, before I tie the laces to my red Converse. I grab the pancake, and munch it down.

"This is the best" I muffle, with a mouthful of pancake and syrup. Sookie was an amazing cook.

Sookie was my nanny. My parents were never home, since they were always away on business trips. When I was eight years old, they hired her, but then they returned, and no longer needed Sookie. However, this year, before I turned sixteen, they went to China. So, they had to re-hire her. I insisted that as a sixteen year old responsible teenager, and only child, I could cope alone, but they weren't interested. Sure, we were wealthy, but it was hard living without them.

In all honesty - I didn't mind having a nanny, rather than being alone. Aside from the delicious cooking and frequent cleaning, Sookie was also the best person to go to for advice and help.

"Hurry up Maddy, you'll be late for work" Sookie reminds me. I took one last bite, savouring the delicious taste, before hoping of my seat.

"Thanks for the breakfast" I tell her. I grab my jacket, keys, and bag. Before checking that I have my mobile phone and I walked out the door.

I saw Violet in the garden beside me. Violet was my best friend, and ironically my neighbour too. She was the sweetest girl I had ever met. She wasn't socially awkward and clumsy like me but she was, nonetheless, a great friend.

"Violet" I called. "What are you doing up so early" I shouted from my garden fence, she turned around, placing down her water can.

"Oh, hey Maddy, Mom wanted me to water the flowers" She smiled, her short blonde hair was messy and she looked really tired.

"Get some sleep, V"

"Don't worry about me Mads" She shakes her head. "You get to work" She chuckled to herself, and with that I was on my way to the café for my early shift.

The café was quite busy this morning, but considering it was a Saturday - it was no surprise. I loved working here. Some of the customers were really sweet, and always smiled. But then there were the ones who were always angry and screamed all the time.

Like Old Man Dan, he would always scream in my ear, about how long it took me to make tea.

"Hurry up with the tea!" He yelled. "Honestly, why would this café hire someone like you?" He shouted in my ear.

"Stop screaming in my ear, and maybe I'll make the tea faster" I shouted back. I got some weird looks from the customers around me, but every one gave me weird looks, no matter what I was doing.

The bell rang at the door signalling another customer for me to serve.

It was Drew Sayers, the blonde, brown memorizing eyes, and just a little over - confident seventeen year old, who was a regular customer here at 'Andrews café'. He also attended the same school as me, but I never dared to associate myself with him, mainly because I never had the guts to.

Violet always said that it was because I was socially awkward, and I didn't really communicate with anyone. Which is weird, considering my job mainly consists on talking to strangers.

But Drew came here so often, that I had his order memorised. He ordered the same thing all the time, blueberry muffin and a coffee with two sugars. He approached the counter and I handed him the muffin and smiled. He looked at me like I'm abnormal.

Oh gosh he probably thinks I'm an idiot!

I made the coffee, but of course I'm so clumsy and have the worst luck than any other normal teen (But then again, Sookie said I wasn't normal, and that I was special) that I slipped on my way over.

And I only went and spilled hot coffee all over Drew.

"AAHH! IT'S HOT" He screamed, and I jumped to his side with napkins. He put down his phone and muffin, and wiped his shirt.

"Are you okay?" I asked, concerned.

"This is a new shirt!" He hisses, ignoring my question.

"I am so, so sorry! I just slipped and you know the floor... I-it's ... ermm... you know... Slippery?" I say, almost like a question. I tried explaining myself, but the words just came out all jumbled.

Why did I have to be so awkward and clumsy?

Max, the other waiter gave me a cold stare, and made Drew a new cup of coffee. For free.

"I WANT FREE COFFEE TOO!" Old Man Dan screamed, in my ear. Again.

"NO FREE COFFEE FOR YOU" I screamed back, equally loud.

Drew grabbed his muffin and coffee and walked out, muttering something about an 'expensive shirt.'

I mentally slapped myself for making myself look like such a fool.

I cleaned the counter and noticed something. A phone, I checked the lock screen and saw that the wallpaper was in fact, a picture of a little girl in a red polka dot dress, and... Drew!? It was Drew's phone!

Now, I could give it to the lost and found, or I could hold on to it. It's not stealing if I'm intending on giving it back at some point.

Soon.

Sure, it had a passcode on it, but this could still be fun... I slipped the phone in to my pocket and got back to work. Hopefully with no more coffee and cute boy related accidents.
