Chapter 5 || Shopping and Surfers.
As planned, I meet Violet by the school gates after school. She was stood by Riley Smith, who I had no acknowledge that she even talked to. As I grew closer, Violet quickly muttered something to Riley and she nodded her head - before she sauntered her way out.
"What did she want?"
"Oh, nothing. It doesn't matter" She grabs my arms and pulls me closer.
"Are you ready?" She asks as I nod my head and follow her trail.
"You know, Rose has been trying to avoid you that's why she's been pretending she needs to be somewhere"
"What?"
"Yeah, she told me last night" I stop to a halt. Rose wasn't like that, she would never do something like that.
"Why?" I ask her, but violet shrugs her shoulders. "I didn't do anything to her did I?"
She shrugs her shoulders.
"Then what did she tell you!?" I almost scream, Violet shrugs her shoulders lightly.
"Just that she's been avoiding you"
"I'm sorry V, but I've got to go" I tell her, before I turn on my heel and walk away. I needed to find Rose, I mean, there must have been something I did, or said that upset her. otherwise, why would she be trying to avoid me?

By the time I reach Roses house, it's already 4. I walk up to the door, and knock on lightly. In matter of seconds, Rose answers the door.
"Maddy?" Rose asks, confused. "What are you doing here?"
"can I come in?" I ask her, and she nods her head and pulls the door towards her, allowing more room for me to enter.
"What's wrong?"
"Are you trying to avoid me?" I come straight out with the question. Rose seems confused but she shakes her head.
"No," She continues to shake her head slowly.
"Dont lie to me Rose, if I did something, tell me. We've known each other for almost 7 years, if I did something to hurt you, you should tell me"
"Ive not been trying to avoid you Maddy, why would you think that?"
"Because Violet told me that you told her" I say.
"I haven't talked to Violet in a few days, and I didn't say that" I sighed.
Why would V lie to me? I didn't do anything that hurt her feelings, so why would she make me think that Rose would do something like that?
"Why did Violet say that?, unless she wanted you to come her purposely.." Rose rambles, and her last couple of words stand out the most. I raise a brow as she mutters "don't listen to what I'm saying, I'm just rambling"
I don't say anything about it after that, I stand up and hug Rose before telling her I'll call her later and leaving. There was something definitely going on with Violet, she was being very sneaky around Riley after school and all this lying - it didn't make any sense. Rose was very apologetic about the whole situation, even though she had no idea what Violet was accusing her off, so I waved her off and trotted to the mall.
After 10 minutes, of speed walking, and 5SOS, I reach the mall to find that it was, unsurprisingly a very busy day. The mall was located about 5 minutes from the nearest beach, which was why it was super busy since surfing contests were held quite often here, hence people enjoyed stopping here before the match begun. I knew which shop V would be in, since it was the shop she saw the dress she wanted, which was Hollister. So, immediately I head in that direction. I was quite annoyed, but I didn't want anything to spoil my mood even more, so instead I attempted to push it in the back of my mind.
I was surprised, V wasn't there...
Drew's phone pinged with a message from him- "I hope I see you there Mercedes, don't forget to hold my hand so I know it's you ;)"
Aww, he sent a winky face.
The surf contest doesn't start until 4, so I decided to head back home and change into something a little prettier for Drew.
When I got home, I texted Rose and Violet, to help me pick out the best dress to wear. Rose texted me that she was stuck at home with her family. So I was left waiting for Violet's reply, wondering if we were okay and why she had lied to me at all.

Violet arrived at my house and I gave her a warm smile to let her know that hopefully nothing was wrong between us and she would eventually explain her lie.
But Violet didn't explain anything, she just came into my room and smiled like nothing had happened, I thought I would give her a bit of time to come out with the truth, rather than having a huge argument.
"So, the black lace dress, or the red bodycon dress?" I asked violet, eyeing up the lace dress.
"Lace" Violet replied and then said "Are you dressing up for Drew?" She had a playful tone in her voice. I blushed and didn't reply.
I walked into my ensuite bathroom to change and heard a lock behind me.
"Violet? Why is the door locked?!" I shouted, it could only be opened from the outside with a key.... Which Violet had.
"Goodbye Maddy, I'll just take this red dress" she laughed and I heard her walk away, her footsteps getting quieter. I banged on the door.
"Let me out, you bitch!"
I shouted and banged, my fists beginning to hurt.
AARGH , I hate her so much right now, to think I was willing to forgive her for lying to me. Only to find out that she's locked me away from Drew. She knew that my parents were away for the weekend and she took the key... So I was stuck here for God knows how long.
My phone, sorry- Drew's phone! I could text him to come rescue me and then he would know who I was as well. I shuffled around looking in my pockets for the phone.
"fUCK!" The phone was gone. Violet probably took it off me when I went to change.
Looks like Drew may not meet "Mercedes" tonight...
