S.L.E.E.T TechNet Lab, Germany: March 15th 2014: 7:00 AM
"I will never get over how we quickly go from night to day once we cross that international dateline" Raven Ducard exclaimed in amazement at how quickly night had changed to day during the flight to where she and her teammates now found themselves at, "It's almost like a form of time travel."
"Yeah..." Silicon mused, "In a sense it kind of is. It's kind of shame it also isn't. Time Travel is just a work of fiction."
"Yeah, time Travel" Velocity added, "Shame that's not real, I could travel forward and avoid this boring assignment... AND get to summer quicker, because I don't know about the rest of you but I've had enough of snow and cold."
He was commenting about the windy blizzard that had hit the SLEET Lab outpost here high in the German mountains.
He found it a bit annoying that they had spent three days in summer weather in another universe, only to come back to winter cold...and to be sent up here to the German mountains where winter was 24/7.
Life could be so unfair.
"Well...actually Silicon...Time Travel is real" Raven Ducard assured them, "it's one of the forbidden and also forgotten forms of magic. Only one magic user managed to get it to work, and unfortunately for him, he was swallowed by the Witch Feeder demon."
"Wait a second" Robo-Warrior asked as they were being lead from the Nighthawk down the snow covered runway of the SLEET outpost in the German mountain range, "If he got him, why didn't he use that power to change history or something?"
"Well that's because it's a one way trip in only one direction, forward. Time Travel magic could never go back in time...and to be fair I'm glad it couldn't" Raven Ducard answered.
"And for the sake of conversation" Atlanta chimed in, "I hope no one actually does figure out how to travel to the past. I hate to think of what someone like Depth Charge or any of our enemies might do with that kind of power."
"Let's hope that metahuman with that power doesn't emerge from the woodwork either" Murdoch added, "How can you fight against that kind of ability?"
"Let's get out of the science fiction talk everyone" Shadow Knight said to his teammates, "Hardass lady soldier at twelve o clock."
The Heroes Legion soon saw that up ahead, waiting for them all was Lieutenant Hardcastle.
She didn't look happy to see them or M-Leader, and the feeling was mutual.
Agent Smith was diplomatic and greeted her, "Hello Lt. Hardcastle. It's been a while..."
"Drop the formalities Agent Smith" Lt. Hardcastle snapped, "You and both know neither of us or your accompanying party are happy to see each other. Especially since you all caused me so much trouble when I was acting commander of S.L.E.E.T"
"We caused YOU trouble?" Velocity said in disbelief, "You tried to gas us and lock us up in the prison where the rest of the villainous Metahumans we've rounded up so far were located when we refused to stay out of it and rescued that bureaucrat woman from the Made-Men. And if memory serves, we also saved the day while you were turned into a mindless puppet by the Made-Men thank you very much. So "your Welcome", huh?"
"Let's just get this over with" Lt Hardcastle ignored Velocity's truthful outburst, "Follow me to the site of the crime. And make sure you don't wander off. Soldiers are on standby to shoot any unauthorized personal"
"Now I see why she was relocated here" Robo-Warrior grumbled, "Cold as ice..."
They followed Lt Hardcastle into the base, down into a section of the lab that opened up onto a big wide gap in the facility with the snowy landscape of the mountain clearly able to be seen in the background.
