I was finally at the beach. I can't believe it. My mind was still trying to catch up with my senses and the fact that this time it wasn't a dream.
Kicking off my flipflops I wriggled my toes in the sand, amazed by the feeling .
"-rooms we want. Now, let's go!" Rhys said and I paled, I didn't catch anything he said at all and everyone has started moving at the same time. Bri is gonna kill me.
"He said that there are many rooms and we can get the rooms we want, so grab your bags and let's get going." Penny smiled, and handed me my bag. I watched her and looked over to our moving group. Everyone had smiles on their faces and Bri was chatting with Rhys so much Alex looked like he was about to combust.
I watched Arden's retreating back as he was engrossed in a conversation with Alex, who was glaring holes at Rhys. Penny pulled on my arm as everyone started getting further away. This is going to be one heck of a holiday.
As we walked on, the sandy path soon gave way to the road and we were hiking up a slope into the forest. Bri was already panting while everyone else didn't even break a sweat. Well Immortals, right? But as the trees cleared, right at the end of the road stood a three-story house. With most of its window see-through, you could see the interior was very minimalistic with several paintings hung within.
My jaw dropped. And Penny came up to me, "Amazing, isn't it? I always am amazed."
Wait, always?
"We've always hung out at Rhys' place. I mean we always opened portals but Arden wanted it to be a surprise." She smiled knowingly and I had to look away. He knew I haven't been on a road trip, that I have never seen the beach in person. He did all that, for me?
"WHAT? WE COULD HAVE SAVED THE THREE HOURS TRAVELLING BY OPENING THE BLOODY PORTAL?" Bri cried out and we all laughed.
The house was huge. Even up close, the house looked as if it jumped out if Twilight and planted itself in the forest, I looked around hoping to spot werewolves or vampires on trees.
"What are you doing?" A deep voice mused from beside me and I jumped.
But seeing as it was him, I muttered a nothing and turned into the house with the rest. It was too soon for a conversation, he's been ignoring me so why shouldn't I do the same?
"Knock yourselves out!" Rhys shouted to what seemed like an empty living room. Not judging him, I backed away trying to go around him, until my clumsiness knocked over my luggage and announced my arrival.
"Laura! I've heard many wonderful things about you! Here, I'll bring you to your room." He grinned and latched his hands on my arm, dragging me up to the rooms.
"Sorry who did you hear from about me?" I asked.
"Well, of course it's -" a shrill scream erupted from the other end of the hall and Bri ran out of a room with tiny balls of black puff-like creatures running after her. Rhys sighed and shook his head.
"Sorry Laura, your room is at the end of this walkway. My room is this one here, the one nearest to the stairs, Arden and Alex have rooms next to mine." He thumbed the door nearest to us and then was off, stunning the tiny creatures and sending them back to the room and was comforting Bri.
The houuse may look as if it jumped out of Twilight, but really, it's more like Harry Potter with such creatures running around, and come on who stuns creatures like that?
"Shall we go to your room?" I almost let out a scream that could've rivalled with Bri's. But grey eyes greeted me and I grunted a reply, walking on ahead but with long legs like his, he soon fell in step with me.
"Allow me." He murmured stopping my hand just as I wanted to open the door and I cocked an eyebrow in question. But when the door opened, I understood. Dramatics.
A queen sized bed lay in the middle of the room with white and baby blue sheets, a white bedside drawer sat next to it with a lamp on it. Across the bed was a walk in wardrobe and a full-length mirror greeted me, there was even a wooden writing desk with another mirror next to the wardrobe. Two other armchairs were placed in the room, but what caught my attention wasn't the colour scheme, which is my absolute favourite, but the view.
The balcony overlooked the sea and from where the house stood. Just beyond the balcony was a view that reached out to the sea, going as far as the eye could see. The clear blue sky, green towering trees and the sea that glittered under the sun. This was a view I could get used to seeing each morning.
"I assume you like it?" A voice broke the silence and I turned, he was still around.
"Assuming makes an ass out of you and me." I blurted out and his eyebrows raised in shock, pink dusted my cheeks as he looked at me with amusement.
"Assume is spelt, a-s-s-u-m-e, breaking it down you get ass-u-me," I muttered and then turned to face him fully, "Why are you still here anyway, you already brought me to my room," I questioned with a hand on my hip.
The smile that graced his face fell, "I thought.." He mumbled and I hook my head.
"I need to unpack Arden, you can go join-" I started but was cut off by Alex screaming his name and I gestured to the door. I watched as he nodded and left without the smile that he wore when he entered the room.
Sighing I went over to the bed, my palms barely grazing the soft sheets. I placed my bags on the chest at the front of the bed and walked over to the balcony. I could smell the salt from the ocean despite the house being so far away. Or maybe it was my imagination. For a moment, everything that was happening went away with the wind, all the Immortal business, dad issues, boy problems, I felt lighter than ever.
