Birthday

Justin's POV

I'm officially 20 years old. I should be happy right? I'm not a kid anymore. People won't look at me like the "teen pop sensation" now. Maybe they'll start to judge me for the right reasons.

But how come I feel so empty?

How come I'm sitting here, watching my friends have fun while staring down at my phone like I'm forgetting something?

It doesn't even feel like my birthday.

"Yo Bizzle what's up man?" Khalil slurred sitting down next to me while resting his hand on my shoulder. Bizzle? I honestly don't even get that name.

"Nothing" I told him simply and he just shrugged it off like it was nothing. He stood back up and went back over to the boys leaving me there to sigh to myself.

"Alright. What's up man?" Ryan came up to me next, obviously seeing me down. That's why he's my best friend.

"I don't know man. It just doesn't seem right" I told him questioning what I just said. "Missing Selena?" He asked me raising an eyebrow. "Yeah" I said quietly almost in a whisper. "Why don't you call her?" He suggested making me shrug in return.

"You know, everyone else would've just been like 'you saw her two days ago. Let it go' or somethin" I chuckled with no amusement in my voice. "Yeah well I'm not everyone else" he chuckled. "Go call her" he nodded his head in the opposite direction of everyone else.

I looked down at my phone, seeing the picture I took of me and Selena cuddling on my home screen, as a smile crept onto my face.

I swiftly made my way away from the drunken crowd before bringing to phone up to my ear.

"Happy birthday baby!" I heard Selena giggle once she answered making me laugh. "Thanks babe" I smiled and I heard her sigh. "What's wrong?" She asked with concern written in her voice. "Nothing. It's just, I don't know. I'm not really in the mood to party right now" I told her leaning against the trunk of a nearby tree.

"Aww Jay" I heard her say and I could picture her pouting. "Say that again" I chuckled. "Say what?" she asked confused. "Call me Jay. I like it when you call me Jay" I admitted only to hear her giggle. "Hmm Jay" she moaned seductively. "Ok you didn't have to do it like that" I laughed and she joined.

"Sorry just trying to cheer you up" she giggled making me smile. "You know what would cheer me up?" I asked her. "I know I know. Cuddling with me. I'm sorry I couldn't be there right now but you know how busy I am with everything" she started to apologize but I quickly cut her off. "Hey don't apologize. I get it. It's ok. It's just, my birthday isn't complete without you. But hey I'm gonna get some cake cause I'm starting to get hungry so I'll call you later?" I asked her hanging the topic and she responded with an ok. "Just don't get too drunk. And you suck you get cake" she mumbled and I can still picture her cute little pout.

"Hey Jay?" She said catching my attention. "Yeah?" I asked.

"I love you"

"I love you too baby girl"

"Happy birthday Jay"

I smiled down at the phone before hitting the end button and slid the phone back into my pocket and made my way back to the boys.

"I gotta go guys I'll see you later" I announced and everyone turned their heads to look at me but I saw Alfredo and Ryan with a smirk on their face. "Yo where you goin man?" Za yelled. "I got a flight to catch!"

"We have now arrived in Los Angeles. You may now unbuckle your seat-belts and retrieve your carry ons" the flight attendant announced over the PA. I grabbed my beats and put it over my ears before grabbing my backpack and headed to the doors.

"17619 Richmond Hill, Calabasses" I told the cab driver Selena's address and he turned to look at me in shock. "Holy sh- umm yes sir" he said snapping out of his gaze and headed out onto the highway making me laugh.

Once we arrived in front of her gates, I handed him a $100 bill and told him to keep the change. "Happy birthday!" He shouted once I exited the cab. I thanked him and walked over to ring the buzzer.

"Hello?" I heard Selena's voice answer. "Open the gates now or I'll kill Baylor" I spoke with a threatening voice but ended up cracking into a laugh. Suddenly, the gates started to open and I saw Selena running out of her house. "Justin!!!" She screamed as she ran straight into my arms, her legs wrapped around my waist and her arms clung onto my shoulders, burying her face into the crook of my neck.

"Oh my god what are you doing here?" She asked pulling her head away from my neck and our eyes locked. I noticed she had tears in her eyes but also a wide smile. I hope those are tears of joy.

"I told you, my birthday wouldn't have been complete without you" I told her bringing one hand from under her thigh and wiped the tear that fell down her cheek with my thumb.

Her gaze fell down onto my lips and the next thing I knew, her lips were pressed against mine as her hands played with the hair on the back of my neck.

"Let's go inside. I have something for you" she smirked once she pulled away from the kiss. "And my birthday is now complete" I laughed catching on as she grabbed my hand pulling me into her house and up to her bedroom.

God do I love birthdays.
