“I trust you is better than I love you because you may not always trust the person you love, but you can always love the person you trust” - Frank Ocean

“I should really get going” Anton whispered softly only to feel Selena’s head shake from side to side against his chest, his arm tightening around her as she let out a small moan.

“No. Stay for another movie” she pleaded as her lips formed into a cute pout only for him to see making him smile.

“It’s almost 12 am Sel, and you have to be on set in the morning” Anton chuckled once he heard Selena let out a groan. As much as she loved acting, watching Netflix and cuddling was so much better.

Giving in, she stood up from the couch and shut off the tv that stood in front of the glass wall that over-looked all Atlanta. She followed Anton towards the door before opening it behind her, her back facing the hallway to the hotel. As she looked up at her, well; she didn’t know what to call him, he wasn’t her boyfriend but he was definitely more than just a friend, she noticed his facial expression changed as he looked slightly over her head, making her eyebrows narrow in confusion before she turned her body around to see something she was not expecting to see.

“I’ll see you later Sel” Anton coughed awkwardly before placing a soft kiss upon her kissable cheek. They bid each other goodnights before he made his way back to his hotel room, leaving Selena alone with him.

“What are you doing here Justin?” she asked, finally getting the courage to speak.

“I wanted to talk to you but clearly you were busy” Justin said softly, his voice reeked with sadness and a hint of hurt making her heart hurt. She knew she still loved him, and hearing his voice like that killed her, but she also knew that she couldn’t trust him.

“No,” she spat rather harshly, “every time you want to ‘talk’, that ends up being the last thing we do” she shouted furiously making him sigh. Before he could speak, she continued her small rant. “I can’t keep doing this Justin” she said making Justin cut her off ruthlessly.

“I don’t want to talk about us Selena!” he said catching her off guard. “I just wanted to talk to my friend. You know, how we used to talk. When we were friends, when we could talk to each other about anything and everything and not feel judged?” Selena studied his face, seeing that he meant every word he said, especially the word friend. Letting out a small sigh, she moved out of the way only for him to feel a bit relieved as he slowly walked into the room, hearing the door shut behind him.

“Do you want anything to drink?” Selena asked softly as she watched him make his way over to the glass wall.

“No I’m okay, thanks” he replied. He stopped in front of the window, studying the lights coming down from the city, watching the cars pass one another, when he suddenly heard a small pop. He turned his head slightly only to see Selena taking a sip out of a beer bottle, a small frown taking a place upon his lips.

Have you been drinkin'

To take all the pain away?

I wish that I could give you what you deserve.

Turning his head back towards the city, he heard Selena’s footsteps slowly coming closer to him until he could feel her presence behind him.

“What are you thinking about?” Selena soft voice asked in almost a whisper.

“Everything” he answered.

“Care to elaborate” Selena giggled making his frown turn into a slight smile.

“This city changed my entire life” Justin said suddenly making Selena look at him in confusion. “If it wasn’t for Scooter, I would have never left Canada. I would have never come here to Atlanta, and I never would’ve met you” Justin said, now looking at Selena’s reflection in the window.

“I guess we both have something to be thankful for then” Selena said suddenly, raising confusion within Justin. “I mean, if you never would have met me, then I wouldn’t know what it would be like to be in love” she said and he couldn’t help but smile.

Out of nowhere, Justin spoke up making Selena heart break. “Sometimes, I regret coming here to Atlanta in the first place”. He regrets loving me? Selena thought in her head. She tried her hardest to keep the tears from falling. “The pain I went through. I lost so much, but at the same time, I gained more than I could ever have. The changes I made, good and bad. I look back and think that it was just too much for anyone to handle, especially me” Justin sighed, never realizing how much his words were hurting Selena. “Most importantly, I regret the pain I ever made you feel. There was never a day I wanted to hurt you, or even see you cry. But the things I did, I hate myself every single day and it’s all thanks to this stupid city”. He finally finished his rant before turning around to see Selena’s gaze locked on the ground.

“Did you ever regret loving me?” Selena gulped, afraid of his next answer. He looked at her in shock. How could she ever ask him that? What made her think- oh.

“I regret a lot of things Selena. Meeting you, falling for you, I could never regret that” he spoke softly, his hand reaching up before he softly grazed his thumb over Selena’s soft skin and he soon felt her lean into his touch, her eyes slowly closing, missing his touch.

“Please don’t do this” Selena whispered under her breath as she pulled away from his touch, stepping away before taking another sip from her beer.

“Don’t do what?” Justin questioned before snatching the beer from her small hands and placed it onto the coffee table next to him.

“Why did you really come here? Because last time I checked, you had plenty of friends back in LA, what are you doing here?” Selena snapped, trying to snatch the beer back from the table only to have Justin block her path.

“Because they don’t mean shit to me Selena! I can’t talk to them the way I’m able to talk with you” Justin replied in a sigh, trying his hardest not to scream.

“Bullshit!” Selena shot back.

“Damn it Selena! Why are you being like this?” Justin asked getting frustrated.

“Because I don’t trust you Justin! I can’t trust you!” Selena screamed, tears finally falling from her eyes as she couldn’t hold them back any longer. He looked at her in confusion before letting out a sigh in realization. “I forgive you Justin” Selena bit her lip trying not to let the sobs out. He looked at her confused once again making her continue.

“I forgive you. I forgive you for hurting me, I forgive you for all the pain you caused, and I still love you Justin. I always will. But I don’t trust you. I can’t trust you, not now.” He stared at her, debating if he should be thrilled or hurt. He knows she loves him, but she doesn’t trust him. He’s not sure which is worse.

“Is there a chance I can change that?” Justin asked hopefully.

“I don’t know Jay” she sighed, turning her body back towards the giant windows.

“Well then I guess all I can do now is try. I’m not giving up on us Sel. You’re all that matters to me”
