---------------------------------

The sun hung hi over the fields below, giving an ever gentle warmth to the earth. Spring wasnt quite over yet and summer had yet to begin. The fields were green and full, sprinkled with little spots of color from the wildflowers. Yellow, purple, pinks, blues....all of them brightened the field against the pale yellow-green grass. Trees dotted the landscape, becoming fuller the further you ventured away from the road. Small birds could be heard chirping while the silent woodland animals could be seen as they snuck their way into the field.

However, on this day, the animals were not alone. Nearby sitting in the cool shade of a tree was Tomo and his boyfriend Takashi.

Tomo was tall and had short black hair, quiet and had the gentlest of smiles. Takashi on the other hand was the opposite. Shorter than Tomo, and had shoulder length blonde hair. He was always so hyper and could make anyone laugh. But today, no one was really laughing.

Tomo was leaned back against the tree with Takashi sitting between his legs, resting back against him. Their legs splayed out infront of them, Takashi's crossed at the ankle. Tomo's arms were gently rested around the smaller males waist. He felt so fragile within his arms, Tomo was afraid he would break him if he held on too tightly. You see, Takashi had been sick for sometime and after many trips and stays in the hospital, he had made the decision to spend what remainder of his life he had left at home.

"Its warm out today, nice out." Tomo said gently, not wanting to stir the silence too much.

A hum came from Takashi as a tired smile formed upon his lips. "It is....it's quite beautiful out today." He said softly, though even if the day still felt cold to him, he didn't want to worry Tomo over it. "Tomo..." Takashi asked, his gaze staring at the colored flowers that danced when a gentle breeze came and blew past them.

"Hmm?" The taller male asked as he turned his gaze down onto Takashi. He couldn't help but notice how tired and pale the other looked against the black of their outfits. His thoughts were halted on that matter though when Takashi's voice broke through the silence.

"Tell me...." He paused and sighed before twisting ever so slightly to look at Tomo. "Tell me about one of your favorite memories of us together." He stated before adding a quiet "please" to the end of that sentence. Tomo only stared down at the tired yet somehow still beautiful face of his boyfriend wondering what kind of request that was. It had caused his heart to clench and this bubble to lodge in his throat keeping him from speaking. Somehow, he knew what it meant, but he didn't want to accept the inevitable. He thought if he did that, that the inevitable would happen and his world would come crashing down.

Thinking on it, there was no one happy memory he could think of. Every memory was happy to him, even the bad ones were happy. But Takashi was awaiting a response, and Tomo was thinking on a way to explain what he was thinking.

"You don't have to if you don't want to though...." Takashi said, thinking the silence meant that Tomo didn't want to do so.

"No....no, I want to....its just....there are so many I can't decide......."

A hum came from Takashi along with a gentle nod as if encouraging Tomo to continue.

".....if I had to decide, I guess....well, every moment I spent with you was happiest for me. Times when we would go out and eat together, every time I saw you smile....." A choked out laugh came from Tomo at this point, "...every time you would do something spontaneous just to make myself, Yusuke or Yoshiatsu laugh. Every moment was precious to me, made me happy." He said, holding back tears that wanted to fall.

Another hum came from Takashi, and a gentle whisper; "I see..."

Tomo wasn't sure if he could continue on talking at this point. He turned his head slightly and kissed the top of Takashi's head unaware the other had closed his eyes.

"Every morning when I woke up beside you, seeing your smiling face. Just....just having you there...." Tomo started as he raised one hand and swiped at the tears that trailed down his face and dropped onto Takashi's jacket. "Just having you there made me happy." He forced out unsure if he could get much more out.

The slightly heavier weight he felt against him sent a jolt of fear right through him. His gaze slowly drifting downwards towards the smaller male.

"Takashi...Takashi?" Tomo called out. He stared for a few moments before a sad smile formed on his lips. "I see. You just rest now, rest as long as you need to. I'll be here when you wake."

He had passed on, a gentle smile was on Takashi's lips as he rested still against Tomo. He looked as if he was at peace, sleeping as he always done. The only difference is his skin had paled and lost its luster. His eyes would no longer hold the shine they once did, his laughter to never again fill a room and make everyone smile. No, now they were all precious memories held deep within Tomo's heart and those that Takashi had touched over the years.

"Sleep well my Takashi. I'll be here when you wake."

Tomo sat there and leaned his head back against the tree with tears streaming down his face as he stared up at the heavens above. Silently cursing them for taking the one person that he loved from him, but also praying that he finally be at peace and not in pain anymore.

As the wind blew around them, Tomo was left in silence, to think of those final seconds and the memories he would forever have within him.
