"Is this the doctor you want to go to?" Zay asked as we pulled in to Oaks Central Care.

"Yeah this is the one. My mom goes here."

We walk in the building and check in. I'm super nervous. What if something's wrong?

"Maya Hart?" The doctor called.

"That's me." I say and walk back toward the room.

"Do you want me to come with?" Zay asks.

"No, I'm good."

"Hey Maya I'm going to be your doctor. I'm Dr. Burgess." She says as we get into the examine room.

"Hi." I didn't know what to say.

"I heard there's a baby on the way. Congratulations. So first let's just do some ultra sounds." She gets the ultra sound stuff ready.

She puts the gel on my stomach and does the work. A picture comes on the screen and I can't make out a baby. "Where is it?" I ask.

"It's right here, I can't tell the gender yet. But something's....." She trails off.

"Something's what?" I ask nervously.

"Give me a few seconds here Maya. I'll be right back. You'll be okay?" She asks.

"Uh yeah." I like her, she's nice. But I'm worried sick. What if there's something wrong with my baby? I thought I was doing everything the websites said. What if...

"I'm back honey. Looks like you're baby is very small. It's not growing properly. We can try some medicine for that, but we can talk about that when you check out." She explained.

"Will it be okay?"

"I can't guarantee anything sweetie, but we can try." She says, giving me a sad look. "Can I ask a few questions?"

I nodded.

"Where do you live and who knows?" She questions.

"I live with my friend on campus and my mom, the father, and my friend Zay, who's in the waiting room."

She writes something down and looks back at me. "Okay, that's all I needed."

Someone opens the door and says, "Aunt Clara, there's someone on the phone for you."

I immediately recognized the voice. "Lucas?"
