Frozen, I watched helplessly as Tamada walked off with Rem. I felt tears coming to my eyes. I still didn't understand what I was feeling. Maybe I was exactly like Kiki. Too scared to confess my feelings? Or maybe I just wasn't sure yet... whatever it was, I had to stop Rem from dating Tamada.
But before I could catch up, I saw Rem nod as she looked down. Tamada looked away and saw me. I tried to look worried but then I nodded and ran back to where Kai was. Rem sure was a quick person, she literally just met Tamada and then asked him out? Jeez, kind of annoying actually.
"Hey, where'd Tamada go?" Kai asked as he unstrapped his harness.
"Talking to Rem." I jerked my thumb behind me.
"Oh, her? Think she likes him?" Kai asked.
"I know she likes him." I folded my arms.
"Ah." Kai nodded.
"What about you? Seen anyone you like?" I asked looking amongst the other cadets.
"Naw, none of the guys here are cute enough." He shook his head.
"Oh...you swing that way?" I raised my eyebrows in surprise.
"Yeah, you're okay with that? Right?" Kai arched an eyebrow.
"Of course! It was just a bit of a surprise!" I raised my hands in defense.
"Mm." He nodded.
Tamada jogged up to us, he looked awkwardly at us. "That was possibly the most cringy moment of my life." He sighed.
"What'd she say?" I asked. Like I didn't know.
"She asked me if I wanted to go out with her," He shook his head. "I just met her, what the heck, right?"
"Yeah." Kai and I agreed.
"What're you two talking about?" Tamada asked.
"Love interests." We answered flatly in unison.
"Oh...so, who do you have your eye on?" Tamada asked Kai.
"No one so far, none of them are cute enough." Kai shrugged.
"Ahem." I frowned.
"Except little miss Kira here, but I think I'll let someone else get her." Kai winked.
"Okay, then what about you Kira? Any guys catch your eye?" Tamada looked to me.
"Maybe one." I looked away.
"Which one?" Kai prodded. A playful smirk edging his lips.
"Professor Shadis." I snapped, sticking my tongue out.
Both of them laughed really hard, bending over their knees. I kept my arms folded and tried my best to stay angry. But Tamada's face was pretty cute. I blushed. What am I saying?

"Cadets! Come here!" Shadis bellowed.
The group took their time to gather around the mound of wood Shadis was perched up on. Mikasa was surprisingly standing beside him.
"This is Cadet Ackerman, she's got some words from the king." Shadis beckoned to Mikasa.
"Evening, I am Mikasa, a soldier like you soon will be," She started. "As you may know, there was a report of there being a titan-shifter a few weeks ago. Now there is more than one and unfortunately, the other one isn't so eager to help humankind as the first, so we're going to be cutting your training time down. Instead of three years, it will be only two months. Those of you that cannot pull yourselves together by then, will be sent off to grow crops along with everyone else. Am I clear?"
"Yes." We all said in unison. Except me, I was too busy being happy to see her.
After I saw Mikasa finishing of her conversation with Shadis, I walked over to her.
"Hi Mikasa, remember me?" I asked.
She turned around and glared at me. "Yes, you're Kira, correct?"
"Yeah." I grinned.
"Nice to see you again," She kept staring demonically at me. "What did you want?"
"Just wanted to know, how hard is it to get into the Survey Corps?" I asked.
"Not hard at all, but it is to get into Levi's squad." Mikasa still didn't change her expression or eye line.
"Is that the squad you're in?" I asked.
"Yes." She nodded.
"Also, uh, do you personally know the titan shifter?" I asked, feeling embarrassed due to the amount of questions I was asking.
"He's my brother." She answered flatly and flew off into the midnight sky.
I smiled on after her, I was going to work extra hard just so I could get into Levi's squad.
