Chapter 3

Sadness

It was second year of high school when it happened. I wake up to a scream coming from mum's room. I get up and run down to my parents room. Mum is in tears and Dad isn't moving.

I ask "What's wrong?".

She replies "it's dad!"

I burst into tears and run up to my room. 2 Hours past I'm in my room daydreaming and thinking.

My Mum comes in and brings me a glass of water. I get up and walk into the living room and sit down. The door knocks and I go and open it it's Matt. I'm in tears. I invite him in.

He asks "what's wrong".

I reply "my dad has died".

"I'm sorry" Matt says looking at the ground.

I try to change the subject.

I get a glass of milk and give it to Matt. I go to my room and get changed.

I eat some toast as a tear runs down my face. Matt and I go out the door and go to the park. I out run Matt to get the first swing. I see some people emerge from the forest. I can't see there faces. When I do it's britney and her friends. Up to no good. The walk towards us.

I whisper to mat "Don't say anything about my dad".

Britney started bitching about us. She knew we could hear her she was doing it to make me rage. But it would never work.

Mum was going to hold the funeral on Saturday. The funeral is today. After the funeral Mum and I go home. I get out of the car I saw a box on the step. I walk up to it and it moved. I read the note on the top, I carefully open the lid.

Mum asks "What is it".

I reach in and pull out a Puppy.

Mum say's "who is it from".

I say " there's no name".

Mum and I walk in with the puppy. I put it on the floor. It runs around exploring. Mum asks me to name it.

I say "what about Mark, after Dad".

"Yes Mark is a good name!"mum said with a tear going down her face.

The next day I found Mark on my bed. I got up following me was Mark. I sit down with a plate with two slices of toast. I go back into the kitchen to get Mark some food. Mum got up and found us both eating breakfast.

After that we watched a movie. Matt came over and saw me and Mark running around the back yard. Matt walked over and Mark jumped on him... To be continued.
