Leo

My eyes fluttered open but were bombarded by bright lights. I groaned and closed them tight. I felt as if I had literally been run over by a truck. Struck by lightning. Drowned in the pacific ocean and was left stranded to die in the Sahara Desert. Every single part of my body throbbed in pain, even my fingertips. I could barley get a breath in without feeling as if hundreds of elephants had sat on my chest- hard. But none of that worried me, nothing worried me. I wasn't scared. I wasnt uspet. I wasnt mourning. I was lifeless. I was empty, not even in this bed. I would look into the future and find no hope, no happiness- no purpose. I had given up, nothing left in me to fight. All eaten away by guilt and regret, completely consumed.

This was how the days passed by, dreary as ever. I was slipping in and out of dream state, not able to keep consciousness for more than a couple minutes. Why would I though? Like I said, I just didn't care anymore. I didn't care if I never left this hospital, I didn't care if I never saw my parents again, I didn't care if I never got to play football with Jack or run free in the woods. My mate was gone, she had left. Amirysia had left.

Mia had left.

I could feel myself sinking further and further into depression. I just couldn't see the point of living. I had made Amirysia leave, I told her to go. I denied my feelings for her, so intent in keeping my status. I destroyed her. Hurting her little by little over the years until she finally fell- kicking them while their down, that's what I did. When I wake up I can't seem to hold in the disgust and shame I feel inside, and end up puking over the side of the bed. And to make matters worse, she haunted my dreams, a constant reminder of what I did. I couldn't move on, not even if I tried.

The room was burning, a sweltering heat wrapped around my body. The fire was everywhere, devouring everything in its path. Cries for help filled my ears.

"LEO!", I turned around but couldn't see anything, the smoke was clouding everything from my vision.

"LEO HELP ME!! Oh god Leo!", her cries like nails on a chalk board. She was killing me.

"Amirysia! Where are you?", and then I saw her. She was in front of me, standing in the middle of the flames. An animal captured in a cage. They creeped and crawled up her legs, they swirled around them endlessly. Her skin turned black and burnt, rotting slowly. Pieces falling of and disintegrating to the heavy air. I could do nothing but stare at the horror in front of my eyes. Watching my mate slowly burn in front of my eyes. Her cries of help and suffering echoed all around me, but her lips never moved. Eyes once a rich brown suddenly turned to steel. They quickly rusted and changed to a cracked brown, to black as the flames reached her face. Her while body lit up and I found my voice.

"MIA!", a flash of light and a body ignited in flames. Gravity turned backwards and my world flipped upside down. I fell to the ceiling, but it gave out beneath me. Desperately I grabbed on to the roof, myself suspended in the air upside down, stopping me from floating away. I clawed at the wood as I felt my hands slipping. Then a hand reached out to help me. It was black, layers peeling off and had bugs crawling in and out. Bile rose in my throat.I followed the hand to an arm, a shoulder, a neck, a face.....

I screamed.

Her face was red and blistered. It looked like rubber and black streaks indicated where the fire had made the most damage. Her eyes...they were gone. Empty holes that smoke fumed out of. I let go of the roof and fell to escape.

I landed on a hard ground, my back giving out at the impact as the wind was knocked out of me. Black, peeling hands shot out the ground and sunk into me, fastening my body down. I struggled and writhed to get free. One latched onto my throat and I choked on my own scream. I couldn't move. They were grabbing into me everywhere, trapping me down. Broken nails cut my skin, and left patches of ash on my body. I thrashed around like a fish out of water. Cracked skin clawed at my face and I screamed out in pain. That encouraged them. Two long arms wrapped around my waist from behind and dug their nails into my stomach. I let a strangled cry as blood began to seep out, but soon my mouth was covered. Dead skin and burnt flakes landed on my taste buds, I gagged. My heart beating so loud and hard it filled my ears and echoed inside the walls of my head. I couldn't hear anything but the banging inside my chest as it increased.
