Stacy's words were ringing in my ears afterwards. Her voice was full of playful humour but I could read her hard tone hidden underneath. I found Kira afterwards, mingling with a few guys before I caught her attention.
'I think I should go.' I said, explaining to her what Stacy had said to me. Instead of agreeing with me, she sighed inwardly and suggested I was exaggerating.
'They can't do shit to you in a public place.' She said smartly before draining the contents of her second cup of what I presumed was beer. I sniffed at it gingerly, the smell alone was enough to make me heave. My Dad was a heavy drinker, making me familar with the smell of this unplesant drink.
'Lay off the drinks.' I retorted, throwing her cup into a nearby trashcan to which she sulked at. I wasn't an attractive sight to behold when I was drunk and I was presuming that neither was Kira, who was attempting to sing Despacito badly out of tune. At least get the words right, I thought, smiling to myself.
I was offered a cup from Michael which I accepted. Best to be polite in these situations, however he noticed my reluctance. 'Come on, don't be a spoilsport.' He chuckled, leading me to drain the remainder of the beer in the cup. The liquid reached my throat, burning my insides for a moment before settling peacefully. This beer had a weird kick to it, enabling me to ditch my worries for a second and live in the moment.
'Let's go in the basement. Their doing a game of truth and dare.' Michael said, leading me out of the living room. He put a comforting hand on the small of my back, leading me downstairs. I tripped due to the lack of lighting, to which Michael caught me. I steaded myself before allowing him to show me the way.
Caleb's basement was huge. It contained a huge TV and couches, and a bar stacked full of alcohol. His father must be really well-off, I thought. I noticed a few familar faces, them being Caleb and Stacy. I rolled my eyes, wanting to be away from them and their drama.
'Can we go back upstairs?' I asked Michael, but he was intent on staying here so I complied. The couches weren't entirely empty so we both sat on one of them, directly facing Caleb and his sidechick on the opposite one.
'Before we start the game, we have to get ourselves drunk so we can answer the game truthfully.' Caleb said, grinning as his mates started cheering him on. What did I get myself into, I thought before looking back at him once more.
Stacy produced a bottle of vodka, laughing when Caleb tried taking it off of her. She opened it with a cork, before taking a large swig, eventually passing it to Caleb. They gave it around before it reached me and Michael. He snatched the bottle in excitement, downing the vodka in frenzy, then he passed it to me. Stacy's smile increased when she saw me take the bottle.
'Do we have to drink this?' I asked, thinking of all the mouths this bottle had touched, not to mention that vodka was disgusting. The smell of it on her Dad made her want to hurl.
'Rules are rules sweetheart.' Caleb said, emphasising the sweetheart part before whispering in fervished whispers to Stacy. I sighed before bringing the bottle to my lips and taking a sip. The vodka burned my throat more than the beer, making me feel parched but that was eventually replaced by a buzz. The bottle was passed around a few more times, until I suddenly felt tipsy, the full effect of the alcohol taking over.
'Let's start the game. Who's first?' Stacy chimed, giggling as Caleb snuggled into her neck. Those two really were sewn onto the hip. If they weren't assholes, I would totally ship them...maybe.
'Me.' A deep voice said. I recognized him to be one of the guys Kira was flirting with before. He had sand-colored hair and blue eyes which sparkled under the harsh light in the room.
'Chris, truth or dare.' Stacy said, the power of command clear in her voice as she selected herself to start the questioning.
'Dare.' He said smirking at a couple of girls sitting nearby. Clearly a dare was deemed to impress these airheads sitting near him.
'I dare you to snog Maddie for ten seconds.' She said slyly, watching Chris take pleasure in the fact that he had been granted an easy dare.
'Don't mind if I do.' He laughed as he turned in her direction and kissed her. Caleb timed them to perfection with his watch.
'Dude we said ten seconds, not one minute.' Caleb smirked, watching Chris go back to his place on the couch before setting his eyes on me.
'Lucy truth or dare.' Stacy said, more focused now on me. All pairs of eyes turned my way, turning me flustered under their gaze. I pondered for a brief while, debating my choices.
'Truth.' I said adamantly. What's the worst that can come from this choice, unless they really knew something about me.
'Is it true that you drove your mother to suicide because you exposed her affair to your dad?' Stacy said, her eyes burning with fire and intent. Everyone whipped their heads my way. The realisation of what she said and how she obtained that information clouded my mind.
'Wh-what?' I said, trying to keep my voice neutral. 'That's a lie.' My heart skipped a beat as I tried to not let my emotions run.
'It's not a lie because she had an affair with my father.' Stacy said hardly, all traces of humour gone from her voice. 'You broke up my family, you bitch. Then you piss off Caleb too.' She spat out the words now.
'I'm sorry.' I said, in shock and horror of the revelation she had presented me with. 'But my mothers mistakes are not my fault.' I kept my head high, waiting for her to have a fit.
Instead she comes up to me calmly, hand behind her back. 'How about this bitch?' She snarled, throwing emptying the contents of the vodka on my dress. I gasped, as the substance felt uncomfortable on my skin. My tears were finally threatening to show as Caleb looked at me. A flash of concern was present before it too was replaced by coldness.
I stalked out of the basement and ran out of the house. I didn't bother finding Kira, company was something I did not need as of now. It was a huge mistake coming here tonight.
