I walked into the first class of the day which was Science. I groaned inwardly as I was never really good at this subject. The topic of atoms still made my head hurt. The class was already full, but there was a few seats at the back which were not vacated.

'This is our new student - Lucy Hixton.' The teacher smiled in encouragement as I made my way to the back. I was thankful that I didn't have to stand at the front of the class and do the typical formalities about my life.

The teacher began to start the lesson which I could barely concentrate on because the door suddenly opened. Standing in all his pride and glory was the guy from Starbucks. He leaned against the door in a cocky way, arrogance oozing off of him. I could not seem to avoid this person today.

'Your late again Caleb.' Mr Smith sighed as he gave him a detention slip. Caleb. That name had a nice edge to it, which could not be said for the rude guy walking in my direction. Confusion furrowed in my brow but then I realised that he would be sitting next to me. How joyful.

'Can you move over, drink spiller.' He said simply as he stood on the side. He ran a hand over his hair which I carefully noticed made some of the girl's faces snap in his direction. He clearly was popular with the ladies. Sure he had a pretty face but his attitude reeked.

'Sure. Can you develop some better insults asshole?' I muttered as I moved to the other seat. I could hear Mr Smith explain the process of the carbon cycle but Caleb's attention was fixed on me.

'Course I will. Did you buy your clothes from the market sale? Also comb that raggedy bush hair of yours, it's not appealing.' He laughed as he tried to analyse me head to toe. I tried not to let his petty insults get to me. I did have a habit of being overly sensitive but this guy was not getting the satisfaction of seeing that.

'Fuck you.' I said in reply, finally opening my book and attempting to study. He did a double take, clearly not used to a girl treating him this way. To my surprise, he moved his seat until he was way further away from me. Actions speak louder than words, I thought.

After a blissful hour, the lesson had come to an end. I made it out of the class before the rest of the students, but not before I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around to see a girl I recognized from Science, her name was Kira.

'Hey! Lucy right?' She chirped happily. If only I shared her sense of optimism on a Monday morning. However, most people would agree that there is nothing exciting about being in school on the first day of the week.

'Yeah it is.' I said, smiling weakly. My lack of caffeine intake had made me cranky and annoyed, but I forced myself to act sociable, at least to this girl.

'You were sitting next to Caleb, omg he is like so hot.' She said dreamily as her eyes wandered to the distance, probably conspiring some fantasy of them both. I shook my head at her words. Sure he was hot, but he was certainly not someone to fawn over.

'Oh please, his a rude guy.' I laughed as she snapped back to reality, looking at me with widened eyes. It took a few more minutes of me explaining the drink incident for her to understand my point of view. Her humour cheered me up. Maybe I had made a new friend after all.

I walked around the school in an attempt to familiarise myself with my new settings. Kira offered to accompany me, which I gladly accepted seeing as she was friendly and bubbly. We talked some more before she went off to her next lesson.

This day had been surely full of surprises, but I was in for the biggest one of them all. I made my way to the English department when I saw them. Caleb leaned against the wall, kissing a girl whom Kira made to mention earlier, was a total bitch. I averted my eyes but their heads snapped my way.

The girl sauntered over, smiling coldly as Caleb followed behind. 'Is this the girl that threw that coffee on you?' She said, a hint of annoyance tinged in her voice. My eyes widened at her words.

'It was an accident. They happen if you didn't know that.' My sarcasm caused her to narrow her eyes as Caleb stepped closer. His hand on her back did little to soothe her. Guess they both had anger management issues.

'Leave her Stacy.' He said, leading her in the opposite direction, but not before she came over to me again with fury burning in her eyes.

'He wouldn't look twice at you, don't try and get his attention. His mine.' She spat venomously before walking the opposite way with Zayn in tow. I realised I had been holding my breath, then exhaled loudly.

How had I managed to get two enemies in one day, I thought as the firebell went off.

Guess that was the highlight of a terrible day then.
