"What would you like for lunch?" My mother asked while she had her head in our tiny refrigerator.
"Peanut butter jelly sandwich!" My brother and sister yelled in unison then laughed at each other.
"How about you Sheila?" My mom asked while I was in mid thought. I pondered for a second then got an idea,
"Can I get some lunch money instead?" I closed my eyes hoping my mom would say yes. I felt her stare, she knew what I was going to do with this money that was for sure.
She sighed. "Money's in my purse get as much as you need." I jumped and ran to her bag and pulled out $10 just in case.
"Thanks mommy!" I yelled from the living room then slid on my shoes and opened the door and yelled bye leaving my mom behind yelling if I wanted breakfast.
I waited at the bus stop across the street, like I do everyday, and felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned my head to see who it was but to my surprise there was no one there. I shrugged and turned back only to find Paul inches from my face giving me his usual stink face. I jumped back and put my hand over my heart
"PAUL YOU IDIOT YOU ALMOST GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK!" I screamed which made him laugh even more. When I finally caught my breath I rolled my eyes and laughed along.
The bus came, like usual, 5 minutes late. Paul grunted and fast walked to get our usual seat 7 rows behind the bus driver. When I finally caught up to him he had his stuff all over my spot and looked out the window pretending he didn't notice me standing there like an idiot.
"Oh ha ha big tickle Paul" I fake laughed and threw his stuff all over the floor to leave a spot for me. He let his jaw drop and looked at me but I just laughed as I watched him struggle to pick up his belongings.
When we arrived at school John was waiting for us smoking his newly lit cigarette. As we got out of the crammed bus Paul and John hugged each other as if they haven't seen each other in years then John looked me over and smiled. Paul has told me time and time again that John has had a crush on me for a while, but the thing is he's already got a girlfriend, Cynthia, who I'm very jealous of.
"Welcome to hell." John recited as we walked through the gates of the so called "hell."
Just as John and I were about to walk into our first class of the day I remembered about my lunch money,
"Hey guys before I forget, do you guys want to go grab some lunch at the diner later?"
"Um sure okay." Paul agreed as he looked at John who just nodded his head and smiled.
"Okay great, see you Paul!" I yelled as I grabbed John's arm and pulled him inside the small science room forcing his cigarette fall out of his fingers.
I sighed a little too loud as I set my stuff on my desk and sat down.
"You know you could of just asked Paul." John said as he sat next to me even though that wasn't his seat. John knows I've had a crush on Paul ever since we first met 3 years ago.
"I know but... I just got nervous." I put my head on my hand and looked forward trying to avoid eye contact. John stayed quiet for a second until he got up and walked to his seat when he saw our teacher Mr. Riley about to start the lab.
The class was a total drag with an occasional "excitement" of when the whatever it was changed colour. When the class finally ended John walked over to me with a puzzled look on his face
"What's wrong?" I asked as I hurried to put my stuff back in my bag.
"Nothing I... Do you really want me to go to the Diner with you guys?"
"Oh John... of course I do, you're my best friend why wouldn't I?"
He stayed quiet as we walked to my locker, he wasn't usually this quiet. He usually always has something to say, but right when I was about to say something about it he checked his watch and looked nervous again.
"I gotta go."
"Oh... okay see ya at the Diner alright?" I said as I got my English book out of my locker. He just nodded and walked to his next class. Weird.

"Hey where's John?" Paul asked as he looked around.
"I don't know, he looked really nervous and was really quiet during science this morning. Has he been acting weird to you lately?" I asked a little too worried. Paul noticed the worried tone in my voice and shrugged.
"No not really, if he isn't gonna show should we just go?"
"I guess." I mumbled as I fixed the strap of my bag and walked to the gates. Before I could even step a foot out the gate Paul grabbed my arm and forced me to look at him
"Hey can I ask you something?" He asked me. I couldn't help but admire his long eyelashes and those big, beautiful brown eyes.
"Yeah." I managed to say as I tried to be rid of all the thoughts I had of him.
"Do you like John?"
"WHAT? No... no Paul, I don't." I nervous laughed as he eyeballed me. I didn't know what I felt towards John, I mean he was really nice and down to earth but he has a girlfriend who he truly loves so it wouldn't really work. He smiled almost the whole way to the diner knowing I was lying which made me blush like a cherry.
