"O-Oh my gosh" I gasped as I tried hiding my face with my hair.

"What?" My mom asked as she continued to read over the menu for the hundredth time.

"I-I need to go to the bathroom." I said as I threw the menu on the table then ran to the bathroom.

As the bathroom door shut I leaned on the sink then looked at my reflection and fixed strands of hair that managed to stick to my lips. I tried sighing but the lump in my throat almost made it almost impossible to do so. My mind kept replaying what I just saw, Paul's arm over that... that girl while her nose was playfully on his cheek and they both giggled at each other. I felt the room get hot as I kept replaying the memory over and over again until it made me go mad and forced me to splash water on my face to try to cool myself down.

When I finally cooled, I paced back to the table with my face down trying not to look at them and hoping they didn't see me either.

"What's wrong?" My sister, Sherri, mumbled clearly not even paying attention to me.

"Oh, um, nothing?" I hid my flushed face behind the huge menu full of words I couldn't even pronounce.

Before I could even open my mouth one of the waiters came by with all our drinks on a black plastic platter.

"Lemonade!" I squealed and brought the long plastic cup closer to me then blushing realising I just literally squealed in the middle of a restaurant.

"Ha, oops sorry." I laughed as I saw the scared and embarrassed waiter standing next to my seat.

After a while, our food finally arrived and I was surprised neither Paul nor Dot noticed I was there so I was pretty relieved. I could still hear the giggles and the 'stops' from her as Paul probably flirted and teased her. Overall it was a good day, minus that little scene.

I finally sighed a breath of relief and settled into my chair.

"Oh, hey Paul! Look Shei, Paul!" My mom said as she glared at me expecting me to say hello.

"Oh hey Paul... what brings you here?" I fake smiled then looked at Dot who seemed too interested in her dress, that in my opinion made her look like a box.

"Well Dot and I came here... on a date," he laughed nervously then looked at my brother and sister, "Hey guys!"

"Hey Paul!" Sherri smiled, Sherri also had a crush on Paul but she was only 12 years old so it didn't really count as much.

It was quiet for a moment until Paul finally broke the silence,

"Well um we better get going, band practice y'know" Paul scratched his head then searched for Dot's hand.

"Uh, yeah, see ya Paul..." I fake smiled once again then watched Paul and his fuzzy duck walk out the door leaving me awkwardly sitting in my seat pretending that what just happened didn't affect me in any way.

The whole ride home was awkward and silent as I looked out the window trying to take everything in and distract myself from breaking down.

When I got to my room I threw myself on my bed and squeezed my pillow so tightly I could rip it with ease.

"Why?" I mumbled into my mattress, "why me?" I continued.
