Belle sighed. She had tried her best to get Veer to open up to her but he was resistance towards her. She had no idea how to connect with him. Let alone spend the rest of her life with Veer if all he did was ignore her.
Belle understood that it was hard for him to open up since he could have been shy or even embarrassed due to the fact that the witch had publicly shown up at their wedding.
"Tell me about yourself. Your dreams. Your aspirations. Your secrets." She teased playfully.
Veer looked up to her in shock. He didn't expect anything from her.
"I stopped having dreams a long time ago." He replied with the truth. Veer didn't wish to dampen the mood but she did ask for his genuine answers.
Belle frowned, "Why? I mean I know you think it's because of your appearance-"
"Yes." He said sternly. Veer had come to terms with his appearance. While his parents made every effort in reversing the curse, he chose to stay away from society. The last thing he wanted to see was his parents' honor degraded because of him.
Belle could only nod. It was incredibly frustrating to her to know that Veer saw himself this way. She reached across the table. Veer however flinched in response to the contact, making Belle quickly recoil.
She immediately apologized, "Sorry. I just want to get to know you better. Please let me in."
Instead of answering her, Veer got up from the table and walked away without saying a word.
Belle sighed as she watched him.
"He'll come around eventually." Belle looked up to their cook Neal.
"I just want to know him. He's the only other person around here since you only come in the afternoon."
"He was always a vibrant person with a rather big ego but I will admit that this curse has suck every emotion out of him."
Belle arched her eyebrow, "Oh?"
"He's no longer the same person. After this curse, he has come more humble and has began to understand the importance of education." Neal continued as he cleared up the table.
"I'd suggest going to the library princess. That's where's Veer babu spends his time."
Belle smiled. Finally. Common ground.
In the room that they shared, another petal fell from the witch's rose. 🥀
