I lifted the top off the box and placed it gently onto the old table. Before looking inside.

There was a book, which was encrusted with my name, but instead of Brooke it was smudged where my second name would be. All what I could make out was a 'H'.

I moved onto the second item which was a wired crystal, it had a diamond shape to it, it was completely clear. It had a little note attached to it that read.

This will help you find your way
~father

I set that down gently next to the book as I got out a small pocket book. Which had a notebook like quality to it. With bits of paper sticking out of it, and how bulky it was. I opened it to see a picture of a baby being cradled by a young couple as they faced away from the camera.

I looked through it, it turned out to be a diary of some sort. Pages had been ripped out or taped in.

One of the entries caught my eye, it was on my birthday.

28th February 2001

Today was the day that the greatest thing that could happen to anyone. I finally got a little girl that I can love. I hope I can be as good dad as my father was.

She has the biggest bluest eyes I've ever seen. Cute little button nose. And thick brown locks. I know she will help the world one day, in anyway she can.

But it can't last for long we have to hide her somewhere where they can't find her or get her.

I want her to be safe........

It read. "What do you think this means" I asked sliding it over to her. She studied it for a second, "this was written, two days before I got you" she smiled. "So I did see him once when I was a baby even if I can't remember it, I still saw him" I said picking up a photo.

It was a woman holding me, I turned the photo around. To see the was writing on it.

My two prides of joy, I would do anything for them.

It looked like the same writing as the box and the dairy, this must of been my father taking the picture. I analysed it, looking at all her curls and flowing here. "They look happy" I sighed. "To bad it came to a tragic end" I added.

"Yeah but it was for a reason, to keep you safe from what ever he was going on about" mum said, I nodded. The last thing that was in there was a envelope with just my first name on it.

Amelia

I took it out gently, it had more weight to it than the rest of the stuff and the books were heavy. I turned it over there was a wax seal, who ever wrote this must of been important, or just fancy when writing letters.

I opened it.

To are darling baby girl,

We love you with all of are hearts, we want you to live everyday as if it was your last,

Run where the wind takes you, no matter how far that may be. Carry your spirit and courage with you.

And never forget that there is more to a person than meets the eye, looks only go skin deep, you have so much potential we could not explain.

Hopefully one sunny warm day we can all be together again. In are home in California, with are dog daisy as we run and play in the grass.

Love your parents

Mum put her arm round me, I sniffed as she brought me into her embrace. "This is so confusing" I blubbered "shh shh shh, it's ok" she said softly, stroking my hair. "Hey what's this" she said picking it up and turning it over. I pulled away and took the note gently. "It's an address, maybe there still there" I smiled.

"Maybe but I don't know" she said. "why don't you look through this more after breakfast, it's your favourite, bacon and eggs" she smiled before getting up. "Yeah" I smiled.
