The cell seemed to be slowly closing in on her. The screams, were they even coming out of her mouth? She needed to get out of here. She had been trapped in this horrid place for over a month. Was the insanity finally getting to her? The long chains and shackles that were wrapped around her ankles burned. They rubbed against her skin. The chains were causing the skin to become raw and blistered. She glanced over at the wall. Here were the scratch marks. They were clawed deep into the wall. Luna couldn't help but smirk. It wasn't as hard as she had originally thought to mark up the wall. If only she wasn't chained down. She had a feeling she could even break down the wall. The wall was made of a material that reminded her of styrofoam. It looked like it was firm and unbreakable. Yet, it was nothing more than a ploy.
It was a ploy, just like everything else in this wretched place. Just then there came a knock. She glanced over to the only portal she had to the outside world. The metal door in the far corner of the cell. Iron bars were placed over the small window in the middle of the door. There, standing outside the door was her only contact. Her nurse stood outside. It looked as if the older woman was holding a tray. Luna hoped it was some food.
The nurse knocked again. "Luna, may I come in?" Her voice muffled by the door. Her Welsh accent thick in Luna's ears. Luna only grunted in response. The nurse opened the door. When she saw that Luna was sitting in a fetal position, she hurried over. An expression of worry plastered over her weary face. "Luna, are you alright?" She asked as she dropped to her knees. As she kneeled down, she placed the tray beside her.
Luna lowered her gaze. "No, I am not okay..." Luna whispered. The nurse bit her lip. "I'll be right back. I am going to get some medical supplies." The older woman pushed herself back up. Luna just sat there. The nurse quickly dusted off her white lab coat, and black dress pants. "While I'm gone, why not help yourself to some food." The nurse motioned towards the platter. Luna said nothing. She only gave a curt nod.
As the nurse was about to leave the room, Luna began to cough. Immediately the older woman swung around. "Oh dear," the nurse muttered to herself. Without hesitation the nurse began to walk back towards her patient. Luna watched as the woman walked towards her. Suddenly, something inside Luna clicked. Without any sort of warning, Luna lunged at the woman. Luna's eyes burned with an unchecked rage.
"You, you let them do this to me!" Luna's mouth foamed as she started to yell. The nurse gave a startled cry. Jumping a good foot back from the girl. Luna struggled to push herself up. The chains made it unbelievably hard. They rubbed at her skin. The fresh blisters upon her already ruined skin began to burst. Warm blood trickled down her feet. Luna fought against the chains, her legs shook as she struggled. Finally, she managed to stand.
The nurse was beginning to panic. She had never seen Luna act in such a way before. Luna was stumbling awkwardly towards her. Her arms stretched out before her. It reminded the nurse of a zombie. "Luna, let me go get the guards, they can help you." The nurse was stepping back towards the door. Her indigo eyes widened in terror. Luna shook her head. "No, they can't help, they only make it worse!" She snarled.
The nurse stared. She was unsure of how to deal with the situation. Luna's yellow eyes had a wild, almost feral look in them. There was something very wrong. The nurse hit the door. She was trapped. Luna was getting closer. The nurse needed to get out of the room before Luna could reach her. "Help me," the nurse cried. Her hands hitting the door. The nurse didn't wish to turn her back upon the girl. Luna was almost upon her when the door was thrown open.
The nurse fell to the concrete floor that lay just outside the cell. Several armed guards pushed past her. Each of the guards held a firearm. The nurse watched in horror as Luna stopped short. It seemed Luna was analyzing her situation. The nurse picked herself up. Her gaze transfixed upon the scene unfolding between the guards and Luna. The guards were beginning to circle Luna. The guards were making sure to keep eye contact with Luna.
