Brooklyn's POV
I go through the days quietly.
I speak to noone
Each school day I just keep my head down.
Nothing had been the same since the accident.
I haven't been happy since.
I mean how could I?
I lost the only person who ever loved me.
After school everyday, I walk outside and down the hill, to the river and sit in what used to be our spot. And think about our memories together.
I hate everything about life now.
I can't stand living it.
But the thought of ending it scares me.
I hear my name being called from the house.
James. My step-dad.
"Come on Brooklyn. Dinners ready" He yelled so I could hear him from where I was.
I get up and make my way up the hill and inside the house, knowing he wasn't going to let me not eat another meal.
I haven't eaten all day.. I have been telling him I wasn't hungry. But I am.. I just don't see the point anymore.
I walk inside and he has my plate made.
"Please. Eat." He said with a sad look on his face.
I look up at him and nodded slowly taking the plate.
I sit down and eat a few bites of the mashed potatoes and a little of the chicken.. I eat a little of the mac and cheese, I mean it is my favorite...
I look up at him and he looks down at my plate.
"A little more?" He asked me with pleading eyes.
I nodded a little and ate the rest of the mac and cheese and another bite of potatoes and then looked up at him once again.
"Very well" He sighed.
I grabbed a water and went up to my room.
I shut my door and blink away the tears.
I have cried too much.
I take out my current book I am reading and continue on the page I was on.
I look out the window and could see out to the river. I look at the house on the other side of the river and see something new.
People..
Did someone move in over there?
I shrug it off and just continue reading my book.
That seems to be what I do a lot of lately.
Read.
And It is the only happiness in my life.
Books.
