Athena stood patiently, waiting for the bus. Remembering her orders and looking down on the picture of the red-headed girl.
"I can't wait to go to school!" Athena cried as she skipped around the table. Her father was drinking his coffee and her mother was making her breakfast.
"Yes, its very exciting to go to school" Athena's mother laughed. She flipped the eggs with one hand, not spilling any.
"Athena, dear, please sit down. I have to explain to you something very important." Her father said sternly.
"Yes, Papa" Athena sat down in the chair in front of her dads. She never disobeyed her dad, she would be punished. Lately, her father was tense and often lectured Athena about many subjects that were strange to the 5 year old.
Her father took out a picture of Tiaga and showed it to Athena. "I want you to meet this girl." He said nothing more or nothing less. He handed her the picture to the unknowing child. She nodded her head and smiled to her dad.
"Yes. Papa."
---In the mansion, 3 days later---
"Tiaga!" Tiaga's aunt cried. "Tiaga, dear where are you!" A little fiery red headed girl came rounding the corner. She smiled to her paranoid relative. "Oh, okay. I was worried. Here are your clothes for today at public school."
Tiaga nodded and took the clothes, walking back to her bed room. Tiaga was mute. Every since her parents died she could not speak. She did not want to speak. She never wanted to see anyone again. Since the incident she was never aloud outside the yard of the mansion. Her aunt thought she was getting lonely, so she signed her up for public school.
Tiaga was not happy.
Tiaga threw tantrums and cried loudly for three days. She knew that kids would call her strange for not talking and she would be bullied. She liked it in her room, she had toys and servants. What more could a kid ask for? She didn't need judgemental friends.
Tiaga sighed and started to change into the white collared shirt and threw over the purple vest. it came complete with a purple plaid skirt and stockings. She grabbed her strap dress shoes and put them on quickly. She walked down stairs, regretting every step. She went to the kitchen grabbing her to-go breakfast, which happened to be toast. She walked out side to the fancy car and hopped in. The car started and she was off to school.
---At school---
Athena stood waiting for the girl in the picture to show up. She then spotted a fancy car, too fancy for any one who lived in these parts. A girl with fire hair stepped out of the rich persons car, since this was the only free time they had till lunch she ran to the girl. Her white curls bouncing along. She then finally arrived to the girl who was dressed fancy. Athena looked down at her clothes, it was just a plain t-shirt with a picture of Mickey Mouse on it that says 'I'm with goofy' and jeans and a sweater. She was very displeased how infancy she was but shrugged it off.
Tiaga got in the car and stood in front of the white hair girl. Bad memories of the white haired woman flooded her brain but she wasn't going to judge the girl for her hair. It isn't the little girls fault for her hair. Athena stuck her hand out before Tiaga. Tiaga cautiously shook the Athena's hand. The little girl smiled at Tiaga, which she returned.
"My names Athena" The girl said pointing to her self. She then waited for Tiaga's response, which never came. Athena frowned, maybe this girl did not want to be friends with her. "Its okay if you don't tell me your name, I guess I shouldn't step on your privacy." Before Tiaga could explain why she wasn't talking the teacher called the students into class. Tiaga frowned and walked in, following Athena.
"Hello kids!" the teacher chirped, looking to every face of her brand new kids. "My name is Miss.Anne, any questions?"
No one raised there hands so she continued on.
"Okay, so I was each and everyone of you to come up when I call your names. I want you to say your first and last name and then say 5 things about your self." She smiled "Okay, so first up, Athena!"
Athena happily stood up and skipped to the front. Her sweater flaring out behind her. "My name is Athena Denket, I'm 5 years old, my favorite food is chicken nuggets" She put her finger on her chin, thinking about more things she liked "Oh! I live in a cabin in the woods, my favoritist person in the whole world is Mickey Mouse, and I love to play outside!" Everyone clapped for her speech.
"Okay! Thanks so much Athena, next up Tiaga!" The teacher cried.
Tiaga went pale, how was she suppose to give her speech. She couldn't talk, she gulped and slowly walked up to the front. She looked to the teacher and pointed to her throat. The teacher gasped as she forgot what Tiaga's aunt had told Miss.Anne.
"Okay everyone, I will have to give Tiaga's speech." She handed Tiaga a note book, since her Aunt told Miss.Anne that she already knew how to read and write. Tiaga wrote down her speech then handed it to the teacher. "Okay, so this is Tiaga Desirite, she is 5 years old. She lives with her Aunt Layna, she likes to draw and knows already how to read and write. Her favorite color is red."
Athena raised her hand, since curiosity got the best of her.
"Yes, Athena?"
"Why couldn't Tiaga given her own speech?! We all have to!" she cried.
"Well, um you see ahm, Tiaga is mute." She mumbled out, not wanting to upset either child.
"What's a mute?" Another kid asked.
"It means you can't talk, dumbo!" Athena accused. She felt bad for Tiaga, what was it like not to talk?
Tiaga was blushing red.
