"Look, (Y/N)," I felt my throat, tight and dry, "you need to explain to me everything."
She hesitated, "please, Gray, I need more time..." Her hands slipped to cover mine, the delicate skin roughed and dehydrated.
"I can't wait forever," I stressed, "I'm on a tiny, broken boat in the middle of nowhere-- don't you think I deserve to know now?"
(Y/N)'s expression twisted angrily. "I never asked you to come!"
I shook her hands away, incredulously, "are you serious? You practically dragged me here, freaking out the whole way!"
The woman looked back, disapprovingly, "I've never seen such a rude tour guide." I could only ignore what she said, my anger pointing towards the woman I had seen with such delight.
"Fine, you're right, you're right, I'm sorry." (Y/N)'s hands dropped to her lap, her shoulders sagged. "I can't actually tell you until we arrive at that place."
She begged, her eyes wide and desperate, "it's not that I don't want to tell you-- really! There's something preventing me from physically telling you." Her voice dropped.
A terrible inkling snatched at my stomach, it seems there's many things she doesn't want to tell you, it taunted.
The sound of her voice pulled you from that thought. "Please, I promise. We'll get there in a few days, and I'll tell you everything then."
"A few days?!" I yelped, holding onto the sides of the boat. "Who says this little thing will even stay together for that long?"
"Hey!" The woman at the front snapped, "if you don't like it, you get off. I have no problem dumping you in the middle of the ocean--!"
"He just doesn't know, it's his first time out here-- he doesn't know about the borders of that country."
And at that time, I hadn't noticed how she had said the last part with bitter disdain. For I was too busy listening to that tiny little voice in my gut.

When I awoke, my stomach was growling with intensity. (Y/N) was still sleeping, her arms draped over the boat just centimeters away from the cold water.
Carefully, I pulled her away from the surface and towards me. She shifted herself in her sleep, all while smiling in a dopey way.
"You got a thing for that girl?" The woman chuckled, almost causing me to jump overboard in fright.
"No way."
"Listen, boy, I'm not good at detecting lies but you shouldn't go for that girl. She's an alright one, but trust me. Something about her just isn't right."
I squinted, unsure whether to trust this crazy old woman.
"In fact," she laughed, "she looks just like that crazy old King's associate. Anyone who's close to the King has got to just be crazy."
She mumbled off to herself, "ooh, trust me, boy, I know."
