"So?" I asked expectantly. I couldn't see Alex's face. As soon as I was about to ask him again, he spun around in the leather swivvel chair to face us. Seeing his face didn't help though, his expression was unreadable.
"Ugh, you hate it right? I mean we did all of this in only three hours- if we had more time..." Luke ran a hand through his hair. It was a nervous tick of his. If you had to know one thing about Lucas Merrick, you should know that his music is everything to him. He's very picky about the recording process: which means he makes us record over and over until it's perfect. It's usually for the best though, Luke's got a real ear for this stuff.
"I'm going to be completely honest here..." Alex looked at each one of us. "This is amazing." I breathed a huge sigh of relief. "And you guys put this together in only three hours? Damn, I know who I'm calling when I need help recording our next album." He laughed.
"Really? You like it? Do you think Smith's gonna like it?" Drake bombarded him with questions.
"Dude if Smith doesn't like this, then he might as well not like anything." Alex folded his hands behind his head. I squinted my eyes at him, not able to tell if that was a compliment. He saw my expression and chuckled. "That's my way of saying that this song is so amazing that he'd have to be absolutely insane not to like it." Will and I hi-fived while Drake jumped and attached himself to Luke in celebration.
"So," I walked over to Alex. "Do you feel honored?"
"I do." He laughed. "Thanks for letting me be the first to hear it."
"Anytime." I told him, and I meant it.
"By the way, I told Les I was coming by and he wanted me to ask if you wanted to hang out. We're gonna get an early dinner in town and stuff."
"Don't we have to be back at the arena soon? Cater said we had to come back right after we were done at the studio." I told him.
"We were supposed to be back for some sort of joint interview, but the schedule got messed up. So now we don't have to be in wardrobe until 7." I checked my watch, it was only 4:30. I nodded, okay. I'm in.
"Sure. Did you drive here?" I asked.
"Yep, Smith let me borrow his car." He wiggled his eyebrows. I widened my eyes in disbelief; as I recall, Smith drove a Porsche convertible.
"Like his white Porsche?" I asked.
"Hell yeah." He grinned and dangled the keys in my face. I laughed out loud. "The things you can do when your band is the label's most prized possesion."
"Oh I am so in!" I laughed. "Later losers, I'll see you at the show. I'm headed out with Alex."
"Cool, see you later." Luke waved. He didn't turn around to face me, he was still captivated by the soundboard. Will and Drake swooped by and simultaneously kissed me on both cheeks. I blushed and hugged both my brothers.
"Bye guys, love you."
"Blargh, don't go all mushy on us." Will squirmed away, laughing.
"Oh please, you guys love me too." I stuck my tongue out before heading out the door that Alex held open for me.
"I love your family." Alex grinned wildly as we were in the parking lot.
"We're really not that great." I laughed, thinking back on my family's twisted history.
"Seriously, I love your whole dynamic. All this attention hasn't changed you at all. You're still the same crazy kids from YouTube." He said.
"You watched our YouTube videos?" I felt myself turning red.
