I woke up the next morning to Serena's voice. She was shaking me and yelling, "ISLAAA! WE'RE GOING TO BE LATE! GET UP!!!" It took a second for the words to sink in and then my eyes went wide as I looked at the clock. It was 7:55 am and school started at 8:05.
"Serena! Why didn't you wake up up earlier?" I jumped out of bed and changed my clothes like lightning. I then brushed my hair for all of 30 seconds and rushed downstairs with Serena. I slipped on my shoes without even untying them, grabbed my backpack that was sitting on the kitchen chair, and left out the door with Serena. We got to school at 8:03 and had just enough time to make it to class. I sat down right as the announcements started playing. I listened to the monotone voice of the principal just like I did every morning and when they were over, my math teacher made an announcement to the class.
"Alright everyone. A new student will be joining us today. This is Leon" I looked at the boy standing next to Mrs. Hamilton and recognized him immediately. It was the boy from my dream! It was a dream.. Right? Either way, I didn't like his attitude. He looked right at me and cockily smiled. "We'll need someone to show Leon the ropes. Isla, how about you? You are responsible for Leon until he gets the hang of things." I stared at her for a second. I did NOT want to be forced to help that arrogant boy.
"No offense, ma'am, but I really think there are students better suited to help him than I am."
"No, miss Jackson. I really insist on you helping him."
"But-"
"Alright! Miss Jackson it is!" She turned to Leon "If you have any questions, just ask her. Why don't you take a seat?" Leon smirked and sat in the seat right next to mine. I glared at him and he just smiled more. He sure did seem amused with himself.
Mrs. Hamilton started talking about today's math lesson and I could feel Leon watching me the whole time. When the agonizing hour finally ended, I walked as fast as I could out of the classroom. I heard a voice call after me. "Woah, speed demon! Slow down, will ya?" I turned rolled my eyes and turned around.
"What."
" You're supposed to be helping me, remember?" I took a deep breath
"And what do you need help with?"
"Finding where all my classes are! Duh!!" He handed me his schedule and I examined it for moment. Every single class was the same as mine. I stared at him for a few seconds and saw the smirk forming on his face.
"Is this some kind of a sick joke? What are you, a stalker?" Just then I felt a hug from behind and knew exactly who it was. A smile grew on my face.
"What's going on here?" he asked.
"Oh nothing, Ash." I turned to face him with a smile and took his hands in mine. "I'm just in charge of showing the new student around." Ash looked at the newbie.
"Hi. The name's Leon." Ash smiled and replied,
"Nice to meet you, Leon. I'm Asher. If you have any trouble, feel free to ask me, too."
Leon replied with a stuck-up "thanks". We then all heard the school bell ring. Ash was the first to say anything.
"Well looks like we have to get to English 101. Let's all walk together." He smiled and we walked hand-in-hand on the way there with Leon behind us. I turned around at some point and for once, I didn't see that stupid cocky smile pasted across his face.
