"You've been moping around for a month now, Lizeth," Alessia says, flicking open the lights of my room and pulling my curtains to let the light in.

"No! Stop it! The light! It's torturing me!" I exclaim. It's true, I'd been in bed for a month now with the drapes drawn together and the lights switched off. I had been binge watching shows, worked my publishing job from home on my laptop as usual, and only left the bed for bathroom or food.

"It's time you do something productive!" Alessia exclaims cheerily. She was never this happy. Unless she got laid. I groan loudly.

"That's exactly what you need!" Alessia says. I furrow my brows.

"Sex?" I ask mock innocently. She laughs.

"No, you twat! Motivation. Let's do some yoga!" Lessie says happily. I snort.

"You can't make me do yoga. Not now, not ever. It's just a bunch of pointless positions to make your body ache to satisfy the lack of shagging in your life," I state. Alessia chuckles.

"I know, I'm only messing. You know what? It's 10 a.m. and we're gonna go get us some Hardees," She says, going back to her usual, sassy self.

"I'm up for that. I guess vampires have to face the sun sometime in their life," I sigh.

"Drama queen," Alessia hollers, laughing as she sashays out of the room.

The cashier chews his bubblegum and smiles at us.

"Hello, sugarplums! I'm Brandon, but call me Brandy. Im one of the most bubbly and excited gay guys you will ever meet from down in Texas, I'll assure you that. Love the outfits, by the way. What can I get you," He says happily. Why is everyone so happy? What is there to be happy about? Apart from Hardees' burgers, there's no reason behind being happy at this time. Also why did he 'love' our outfits? I was literally dressed in grey cotton shorts that barely reached mid thigh and a plain black v-neck.

"I'll have a Big Hardy," I grumble. The cashier, Brandy, frowned.

"What's wrong, sugarplum? There is no reason for a bright young lady like you to be all grumpy in the mornin'. I believe the way you start off your day affects everything. So cheer up, honey, 'cause ya'll are gonna get some burgers!" Brandy said excitedly.

"Whoopee!" I exclaimed sarcastically. Alessia and Brandy laugh. The door from behind me opens and a man steps in. Wearing a dark blue shirt and jeans, he steps next to us to order from the cashier to our left.

"Hello, sir. What can I get you?" The cashier asks. The man glances at me before replying.

"My usual," He replies curtly. The cashier looks baffled.

"Sir, you've never been here before," She says slowly. He puts a hand to his mouth and shushes her.

"Shut up. Pretend you know what I'm talking about," He whispers, but I just about catch it. The cashier rolls her eyes.

"Uh, okay. So you'd like your regular? One soy bean burger with extra Ketchup and pickles, please," She says into a monitor that connects to the kitchen. The man face palms and glances at me again. I roll my eyes along with the cashier and sigh.

"What are you doing here? Following me huh, Miller?" I say. He sighs, looking guilty as a kid who took the cookies from the jar he wasn't supposed to know about.

"Yeah, maybe. I just saw you coming and decided to tag along," He admits. I sigh.

"You didn't call or text," I say sadly.
