Chapter 18

KATIE'S P.O.V

"Katie! I love you!" the creamy voice whispered in my ear. It was too musical to be Jake, but I knew who it was. "What do you mean, Edward? What about that other girl you like?" I ask. He smiles and pulls me closer, as I tense up and try to create distance. "She was you. It was always you. Because I love you. Come with me." Edward whispers into my ear. "Ed! This isn't you!" I say. But he shakes his head. I feel his fangs brush against my neck, and I gulp. "No! Ed! I love Jacob! I need him! I love you too, but Jacob is my soul mate!" I say. Right before Edward's fangs pierce my skin, a heard a yell. I look up and see... my father. "You worthless piece of crap. No one will ever love you!" he yells, holding that belt and taser I know too well. I back away, looking for someone, anyone, but I bump into something. I turn and see Jacob. "Jake!" I yelp, hugging him. But he stays rock hard. He smirks and pushes me to my father, who holds the belt around my neck to prevent me from moving. The pack and the Cullens step forward, and they all laugh at me. "We don't love you, Katie. All you are is worthless. You are worthless." Worthless. I cry as my father tazes me, screaming insults at me. My family is laughing at me. Suddenly, my mother appears. "Let her go!" she yells. My father instantly lets go. I run to her and hug her, but she pushes me away. "Mom?" I ask timidly. She slaps me across the face. "I'm not your mother. I'm HER mother." She hisses, jabbing a thumb at someone else. I look over and see the one and only Bella. The two embrace and I see a flashback of all the fun things I did with my mother, only Bella replaces the spot I was. Tears stream down my eyes. "No one could ever call you daughter, sister, friend, family, love. Because all you are is worthless." she snarls. The word rings in my head. Bella shoves me to the ground. I expect the hard floor, but instead I keep falling. I am falling into darkness. Worthless.

"Katie! Wake up!" I scream as I bolt up. I run to the bathroom and wash my sweaty face with cold water. After I begin to breathe normally, I look at myself in the mirror. Thank God I made it out of that dream before I hit the ground, otherwise I would've been dead. Worthless. The word still rings in my head. "No! Today is your special day. Don't let phantom people ruin it. You have people who love you." I whisper to myself. "That's right." I shriek and nearly have a heart attack, and turn to see that the voice had come from Edward. "Sorry." he mumbles. I laugh shakily, telling him it's okay. "I heard you screaming, and Jacob felt this sharp pain. He wanted to see you, but Alice wouldn't let him. Wedding crap and all. So I said I would check on you. Jacob is worried sick." Ed explains. I smile at him. "Thanks. I'm fine." I say. Edward raises an eyebrow. "Did you have a bad dream? What were the sharp pains?" Edward asks. The taser. "Nothing. Just stuff." I say quickly. Edward shakes his head. "I know you're lying, Katie. I love you enough to know these things." Edward says, rolling his eyes. I laugh, then freeze. I love you enough to know these things. He looks uncomfortable, like he hadn't meant for that to come out. I relax a bit. "Awwww. Luvya too, Ed." I say, punching his arm. He exhales deeply. "Now go! You're wedding is in 4 hours. Alice is freaking out. She's helping the other girls get ready first. Leah and Rose are not happy. I'm amazed that they aren't friends yet." Ed says. I laugh. I know that Leah is actually really girly, but she doesn't want anyone to know because she wants to look cool being a wolf and all. Rose is pretty girly, but absolutely hates it when Alice is being a control freak. "Good luck." Edward yells as I push him out of my room. "Thanks! Imma need it!" I yell back, and he laughs. I shower quickly, scrubbing at my neck. I know Jacob hasn't marked me yet, and he absolutely hates it. He's grown so restless sometimes, but I don't want to be marked just yet. I quickly put on a simple dress and a robe. I walk into the "changing room" and find all the girls rushing around getting ready, except for Jen. Who seems lost in thought. I sit down next to her on the blue couch. "What are you thinking about?" I ask. She jumps, snapped out of her imaginary world. "Katie! OMG my cousin is going to be married today!" she shrieks hugging me. I laugh. "Thanks, Jen. But don't change the topic. What were you thinking about?" I ask. she gulps. "Seth-" I wiggle my eyebrows, but as she continues my face grows serious. "Seth told me about imprinting. And werewolves. And yeah." she whispers. The whole room is absolutely silent, so I can hear the trees rustling outside. Then everyone squeals. "AHHHH! OMG! Welcome to the family!" we all scream. She laughs. "You guys knew about this?" she asks. We all nod. "I'm marrying a werewolf, Jen. You'd think I'd know. And my best friends are either vampires, werewolves, or imprints." I say, and everyone giggles at the comment. Alice breaks the little barrier. "WE ONLY HAVE 3 HOURS AND A HALF LET TO PREPARE YOU! HURRY UP! LET'S GO GO GO, LADIES!" The rushing starts again. I am shoved into a chair. I am tugged and pulled at in all directions. after a solid 10 minutes of torture, I yell. "Enough! This is my wedding! I don't want to remember it as a torture and a pain. We're gonna do this my way." I say. Everyone nods. I turn to Alice. "Alice, thank you for planning everything else. I love your planning, but I need to do this my way." I say. She nods and gives me a hug. I smile. "Okay! We have about 3 hours left. Here's how we're gonna do it." I say, rubbing my hands together. Kim and Rachel do my makeup as Leah and Rose do my hair. Jen, Emily, and Alice get my dress and other things ready. When Kim and Rachel are done, they start to prep my jewellery and things like that. Claire runs into the room. "Aundy Kadie!" she yells. I laugh and pull her onto my lap. "You ready to be my flower girl?" I ask. She nods vigourously. I smile and hug her. "Claire? Claire!" I hear Quil scream. Alice runs to the door and blocks him. "You can't come in here! Deal with not having your imprint for 3 minutes, Quil!" she yells. He sighs. Even Quil can't defy Alice. She smiles in victory. I look at my phone, It's 1:30 pm, only another hour and a half until the wedding. The girls and I ate light in the room, laughing and chatting. "Kim! Can you get Claire ready?" I ask. Kim agrees and takes Claire into a small room that connects. I sigh. This is my wedding. I only get it once. "Alright! We're done." Rose says contentedly. I smile. My hair looks great. It's simple, yet elegant. I gather all the girls around. "Thanks guys. For everything. I love you all so much. And I'm so glad you're here." Mid sentence i start to cry. All the girls are crying now. "No! Don't ruin the makeup!" Rachel and Kim say as they cry as well. I laugh. Luckily, no one's makeup is ruined. I get dressed into my beautiful dress, and put on my veil. I slip my feet into my shoes when no one is watching(it's a surprise). "Ready?" Rose asks. I nod and squeeze her hand. "I'm ready."
