Due to the fact that both of my parents were working overtime and Indya was always with Jahseh, I was mostly home alone.
Today Indya and I were supposed to be out job hunting but we decided not to mainly because I didn't want a job right now and because Indya wanted to be with her boo.
Laying on my bed listening to music, I heard the front door slam. I took an earbud out and listened closely but I didn't hear anything else.
I stopped my music and threw my leg over and got out of the bed. I pulled my door open and was about to walk out, when I seen my dad coming up the stairs kissing some blonde haired girl very sloppily.
I stopped and closed the door back a little, but enough for me to still peak out of.
He picked the blonde haired girl up and she wrapped her legs around his waist. The way he felt up her thigh made me cringe.
That wasn't my mother.
The way he stuck his tongue in her mouth while they made their way to him and mother's bedroom made my stomach turn.
They made their way into the room and slammed the door behind them.
I couldn't believe my eyes. I closed the door and took a deep breath.
Now I wishing that Indya and I had went job hunting today so that I wouldn't have seen what I just saw. This was going to haunt me.
Knowing that my dad was cheating on my mom while she was out working hard to keep us alive, was going to haunt me.
I slid on my shoes and quietly left the room. I crept downstairs and made my way out the door and into my backyard.
I took the path through my garden that I remembered taking last time to find that little river I had discovered.
I walked through the tall trees trying to keep the tears that were welling up in my eyes from falling.
Their marriage was definitely falling apart. If they got a divorce, Indya and I would get separated and I didn't want to leave my sister.
I found my way to the river and lifted my head thinking I was about to go and sit on the rock and think, when I noticed Stokeley already sitting there.
I quickly wiped my eyes pulled myself together then walked up behind him.
"Stokeley?" I say.
He didn't turn around nor move. He just sat there and stared at the water. I came around and stood in front of him.
"You ever notice how the sounds of water keeps you calm and kind of like makes you forget things? Or is it just me?" He asks still staring at the water.
I turned and looked at the river flowing. I nodded then turned back to him.
"It's true" I tell him.
There was a tiny bit of space left on the rock so I sat besides him and acknowledged the river as well.
"What are you doing in my backyard?" I ask him.
"This is your backyard?"
"Well, no... but back there is my backyard" I tell him.
"I been coming to this place since I was kid. This place calms me down and helps me think when I need to just sit and think. This is my backyard" He says.
"Oh... I just found this place a couple of days ago. Did you put this rock here?"
He nods.
"What were you thinking about just now?" I ask him.
"When and how it would be like when I die" He says catching me off guard.
"You think like that?"
"Yeah."
"I use to. Back when I was younger, I eventually got past that stage of life"
"Not me. i'm ever gonna get past this stage"
There was silence amongst us as we just sat and thought.
"What did you come out here for?" He asks.
"To clear my mind"
"Of?"
"Stuff"
"You aren't so open. I kind of hate and like that about you"
"You aren't either"
"It takes a lot for me to open up to anyone at all."
"Yeah. I know"
We sat there and talked for a long 45 minutes before he got up and stretched.
"Well, ima get going"
"Where are you going?"
"Probably to Jah's house"
"Can I come with you?" I ask him.
He shrugs.
I followed him out of the woods and into my backyard. We made our way to his car that was parked off on the side across the street.
He got in and I got in on the passenger's side.
We arrived at Jahseh's house and got out. Instead of knocking Stokeley just went straight in and I followed.
Red spotted us first and his face lit up when he saw us.
"Gang!" He says causing everyone to look at us.
There was just Red, Jahseh, Indya, and Isaiah sitting around playing a video game.
"Not Asian and the slump god together" Isaiah grins.
"Look how they looking, they just came from fucking" Red teases, grinning at us.
"What?! no" I say moving away from Stokeley who only laughed.
For the rest of the day we all just hung out and talked and laugh. I guess I could start getting use to these guys.
