The City.
The dust cleared. Mavral sat off in a blocker off alleyway, guarding the children who had the blanket wrapped around them. He cradled the boys head close to his chest. The boy's younger sister's head rested peacefully in his lap. Her eyes were closed. She was sound asleep. In the middle of the city Admiral Lamen moved through the dust. He walked across the bodies of his dead soldiers as well as enemies. He saw the Rebel flag standing in the center of the city. Planted in the ground. A snarl grew on his slimy green face as he circled the flag with his arms behind his back. Some stormtroopers marched along with him. Four to be exact. He stared as the flag waved in the wing. He stared up at it as the Rebel symbol stood out among the ashes and dust. He reached his hand up, grabbing the flag and ripping it off of the pole, leaving a small straggle of red thread tied on. He threw the flag into a fire next to him as it burnt. He stood there, sniffing the charred air and taking in a deep breath."Search the premises." He spoke boldly.
"You find any Rebels alive...you kill them. Same with the boy." He spoke, a snarl on his face.
"Yes sir." One of them responded.
One troop went up the right stairwell, the other up the left, one down an alleyway at the left side of the center of the city and another to the right side down an alleyway as well. Mavral sat up as he heard footsteps moving.
"Mavral. Protect those kids." Yiara spoke in his ear.
"What!?" Mavral asked.
"Mavral...they are SPECIAL to our cause. They are our last shipment across the canyon. There's a ship moving to your position as we speak. Avril was just arrested by his stormtroopers outside for tyranny. He's being thrown in prison, his trial will be in a week. Listen, I can't talk much. But there will be a ship waiting for you on the west wing of the city. That's only nineteen kilometers away. You can make it Mavral. Be prepared soldier." She spoke.
"Y-yes ma'am." He stuttered, staring down at the sleeping children.
He was confused. Beyond confused. He listened closed for any footsteps. He heard a soldier on the opposite side of one of the downed pillars.
"Up. Get up." Mavral whispered.
The children's eyes slowly fluttered open.
"Wh-what?" The boy asked, surprisingly deeper than Mavral would've thought.
He must've been about fourteen maybe fifteen or so years old.
"We need to go. Stormtroopers. Run." Mavral shouted, sending them running up the stone stairwell.
He turned is back to theirs as they sprinted. The stone pillar burst into flames, the concrete flying, a white cloud of dust flying. The stormtrooper sprinted through the smoke and began firing at Mavral. Mavral aimed and fired heavily at the stormtroopers as he moved backward up the steps. Red blaster fire engulfed the stairwell.
"Take a left!" Mavral shouted. The kids turned left down under an overpass as they sprinted down another stone stairwell.
Mavral fired, hitting the stormtrooper and hitting him right in the chest, sending him backward down the steps, flipping backward, black ash mark spreading across his chest. He turned and sprinted down the stairwell behind the children. The boy held onto his sister's arm, pulling her down the steps behind him. They headed downward toward another stairwell that swooped up in a V like form. They sprinted up the other stairwell, following upward. Red blaster fire phased past their heads.
"Ah! Blast it!" Mavral shouted, turning around and gripping his blaster, three stormtroopers trailing behind them.
Mavral fired back heavily.
