I woke up completely forgetting that Zane was coming, so that morning was pretty normal until Amy called out.

"Miss, can you please come down here!"

"Yeah, give me a sec!" I put the book I was reading back on the shelf and ran down the stairs. "What is-." I stopped talking when I reached the bottom of the steps, there he was I completely forgot he was coming.

"Oh so you can talk." Zane grinned. I just stood there shocked. Damn it! He heard me. "So you ready to go or did you forget I was coming." I looked down at what I was wearing, the jeans are okay but the shirt is a no. I held up one finger and ran up stairs. Shoot shoot shoot! Okay this one will do. I grabbed a dark blue flannel and put it on over my grey shirt. I looked in the mirror, good it doesn't look like I'm going on a date, just a normal day. I grabbed my purse and ran down stairs, I grabbed my nicest boots and put them on. I gave Zane a thumbs up then waved goodbye to Amy.

"Hey, how come you don't talk?" Zane asked. Well I want to tell you but that would ruin the whole purpose. . . Wait a second! Why am I here I'm ruining the whole plan by being here, there is just something about him, maybe I'll tell him. Wait! But I haven't talked to anyone but dad and Amy since the incident I'm not ready to talk and what if I hurt him. "It's okay if you don't want to answer, but when I heard you talk to your maid your voice was really nice." Ugh there he goes again making me blush. "Well I'm just glad you came even if you don't talk. You wanna get some lunch?" I nodded, maybe I could have a friend as long as he doesn't touch me he'll be fine. "Okay, I know I good place in town, it's kinda far though. You up for it?" I nodded. As we walked he talked to me even though I never talked back. He's really trying hard to be my friend.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we took a seat outside. I pointed to the menu to tell Zane what I wanted. After he ordered, he looked over at me and asked.

"Do you go to Panther Highschool?" I nodded. "Really! I go to the other one right next to it, it's called P.A.H. for Private Academy Highschool. I always thought it was a stupid name but what can you. Anyways to you walk to school?" I nodded. "Do you mind if we meet up in the mornings and I walk you to school?" Woah, that's a big question, am I really ready for a friend, I don't want to hurt him but I also don't want to hurt him by not being his friend. I'll just be really careful. I finally nodded after making choice. "Awesome, I'm glad." he gave a big smile. He continued talking the whole time while we ate. After that we walked around town and he bought me more ice cream. He's so nice to me and I haven't done anything in fact I've been really mean I haven't said a word to him. When the day was over, he walked me home.

"Okay I'll wait here tomorrow." he told me. I started walking to my door but stopped I turned around and said.

"Thank you!" Then I ran inside.

"Hello Miss, I see your back from your date." Amy greeted me at the door. I felt myself turn bright red.

"It wasn't a date! He just bought me ice cream and lunch and yeah." I knew as I said it, it definitely sounded like a date.

"Well Miss, dinner is ready and your father is already in the dinning room."

"Thanks Amy." I walked to dinning room. When I entered I saw my dad looking so depressed that you could see a dark ora around the room. "Hey dad, how was your day?" He looked up at me with eyes that were about to spill tears.

"My day was just fine." He replied then sniffled a little trying not to cry. "How was. . . was. . ."

"How was what dad?"

"Your stupid freaking date with that stupid freaking guy." Oh so that's why he was so depressed.

"Oh don't worry dad that wasn't a date, trust me." He looked up at me with some hope.

"You promise?"

"Yes. He is just a friend."

"Yay! Everything is right with the world again! Except one thing!"

"What is it?"

"You still won't give me a hug!" then he went back to eating his food. After dinner I went up to bed. I laid on my bed wondering if Zane would actually show up.

The next morning sure enough Zane was waiting outside for me. I said bye to Amy and my dad then Zane and I walked to school.

"Hey thanks for saying something to me yesterday, maybe one day you'll talk even more." He said as we walked. This time in stead of nodding I was going to talk.

"Maybe." I replied very quietly. He smiled when he heard me.

"Hey I'm going to meet you for lunch today okay?"

"Okay."

"Do you have a hour long lunch?" I nodded. "Then I'll come meet you at your school and we can go to the park and eat."

"O-okay." Jeez I'm so quiet I'm surprised he can hear me. This is so weird he's the first one I've talked since the incident. I'm so relieved to have met him but I still don't know why I let my guard down around him.

"Okay here we are I'll see you later." I waved goodbye and went inside. I was eager all morning, I couldn't wait to eat lunch with him. When lunch finally came, I ran outside and there he was leaning against a tree waiting for me.

"Sapphire! Over here!" He called out. I ran over to him. "Ready?" I nodded. When we got to the park, he talked to me again but this time I would laugh at certain things and sometimes even say a word. When it was time to go he walked me to the school then said.

"Hey Sapphire, I'll see you tomorrow." I smiled and replied.

"Okay."
