Kennedy's POV

I wake up with a start and sit bolt upright in my bed. It's morning, I'm in my room, I'm still alive. What happened last night? Could it have just been a horrible nightmare? It was so hazy, and unreal, and terrifying, it had to be a nightmare. I throw my covers off and put my feet on the ground, taking a second to wake up before I get out of bed. Feeling too exhausted to want to get dressed, I walk down the hall in my pajamas, hoping that someone made something hot for breakfast. My hopes are satisfied when the elevator door opens and I smell piping hot pancakes. I groggily make my way toward the kitchen and sit down at the bar next to Steve. Bucky is flipping pancakes on the griddle, and Tony is pulling his head out of the fridge, wielding a carton of orange juice. When he sees me he quickly comes to sit by me.

"Firecracker, you okay? You had a pretty bad attack last night." He asks with concern. So much for it being a dream.

"Attack?" I ask, equally concerned.

"Yeah, don't you remember?"

"I remember being terrified, but when I woke up I thought it was just a nightmare."

"No, it was real, that's for sure." He assures me. By this time our conversation has caught the attention of Steve and Bucky.

"What happened last night?" Bucky asks, placing a plate of pancakes in front of me, and one in front of Tony.

"Firecracker came down here in the middle of the night having an anxiety attack." Tony explains.

"Yikes," Bucky says, placing a third plate of pancakes in front of steve, "My sister used to get those, remember Steve?"

"Yeah, she would really freak out sometimes." Steve agrees.

"What's an anxiety attack?" I ask fearfully, unsure if I even want to know the answer.

"It's what happened to you last night, that's what it's called, didn't you know that?" Tony asks, setting down his coffee mug to look at me.

"How am I supposed to know what it's called when it's never happened before?" I point out indignantly.

"Wait, that's never happened to you before?" He asks, eyes wide.

"Nope." I roll my eyes, thinking that it's obvious.

"I'm so sorry, I just figured you'd had them before. If i'd known that this was the first I would have already made a doctors appointment to get you diagnosed." Tony apologizes. Pepper walks in as he finishes and after he explains the conversation, she calls the doctor's office and makes an appointment.

"Okay, but what's an anxiety attack?" I ask again, confused and more that a little bit scared.

"Tony stops talking to Pepper and turns his attention back toward me. "It usually happens when you're stressed, or thinking about something stressful, your fight or flight reflex is triggered and everything goes downhill from there. Your heart starts beating fast, you feel like you can't breathe, and your senses basicly just go on the fritz. Does that sound like what happened?" When he finishes I try to think back to last night.
