cover me in bubble wrap
and let me sit upon your lap
tracing pictures on your back
what could my life possibly lack?
state of the art, freezing plunge pool
is how she would have described high school
her simple world was suddenly enlarged
the perpetrators got away uncharged
peer pressure and distractions
learning algebraic fractions
when life got tough
the waters became rough
upon stormy seas
she began to wheeze
lacking motivation
no state of elation
her unrealistic expectations
matched with all the accusations
lonely was she
she longed to be free
from the demons that entrapped her mind
they darkened her heart and covered her eyes, making her blind
her mind, body and soul under attack,
she felt as if she was on a straight track
that was a dead end.

Poetic Insanity
PoetryThe product of a slam poetry assignment at school concerning an abstract idea that isn't abstract at all, now continued through late night bursts of my dark insides. A work in progress as I become a better writer; feedback appreciated.
