It's all dark and there is a pressure surrounding me, engulfing me. But it isn't my normal pressure of pain I can't feel. It's different. It feels warm, and comforting. And... safe.
Stranger surrounds me, protecting me from the nightmares that roam my dreams. I think of the nightmares and frown, but break into a smile when Strangers arms surround me, coforting my thoughts, stilling them. A hand places itself on my shoulder, comforting me further as my mind drifts in my sleep.
She lifts my body off of the sofa and I feel her get up, placing me back in my spot.
Please don't go.
I reach out for her, groaning in my sleep and trying to curl into her warmth, only to fine the sofa.
"Don't worry, I'll be back." That thought comforts me as I hear her moving around. As she walks away, soft music starts to play on her phone. The melody is soft and music, sotthing the ocean of my mind without her presence. I listen to the music as I sleep, recognising some of the melodies but not being able to place them.
Maybe Hannah's heard them before?
My body reaches out for somethign to hug while I listen, grabbing a nearby pillow and encasing it in my arms. I hear Stranger pad back down the stares, and flinch in my mind at the colder tone in her voice.
"Nice to see I'm easily replaced!" She chuckles but it falls false. I whine at her, searching for warmth. Stranger lifts me again as she sits down.
"Okay, okay... I'm here now." I relax as her soothing voice rolls over me, crutling myself into her lap again. My hands loosen on the pillow, and Stranger takes it from me, setting it down beside her with a soft noise. A hand places itself on my arm and I make no mocvements, my body still as I rest.
I can hear Stranger typing on her phone, texting... someone. I wonder who. Dark maybe?
My body convulses with a few coughs as Stranger answers her phone, talking to whoever is on the other end with a mocking voice. I sounds like Dark, and he sounds tired. I can't make out the words, but he sounds in need of help. I pick up that he's struggling with a cse and needs help.
I strain to listen to Darks explaination of his case.
"Simon Chaplet recieved a phone call from hs son in Mongolia on his birthday at around ten at night. His son, Ron Chaplet, told his father to take a picture of his car and send it to him for an unexplained reason. The call cut off and the father asumed it was just bad reception.
A week later a car lost control on the road and drove down their driveway, crashing itno the back of their sons car. The car blew up, obviously, but upon inspection of the wreckage there was a body in Rons car. I requested a run through on the DNA and teeth records twice, both came back with the same response. The body found was Rons."
stranger says something and Dark cuts her off, explaining that the body was a week old, so the man must have died on his fathers birthday. Dark then comfirms that there were two types of leather in the car and my brain clicks.
The boy may have been hiding in oen of those fak car seats to scare his dad on his borthday when he took a photo of the car. He was hiding and may have died in the car due to some other circumstance, not being discovered till a week later.
"H..iding." The words escape my lips and I hear it click for Stranger, listening to Darks excitement as he clicks it too and see's that it works.
The conversation carries on for a bit, but my mind zones out as they talk, only shifting back when I am picked up by Stranger again.
She shifts me to her front, hooking my legs on either side of her waist, looping my arms over her shoulders, though one slips and comes to a rest on her collar bone. My head falls from her shoulder and rst on her chest, the sound of her beating heart comforting me.
I hear Stranger move to the kitchen and try to swallow something, grunting. She sounds agitated so I make a small noise to get her attention, but my hand slips down to her necklace and I get distracted by the cold metal on her chest, smiling on impulse. ~
My mind blanks again and I'm being carried up the stairs. I shift slightly in my sleep, and my hand falls directly over her necklace, feeling the christian cross shape settle into my flesh. I smile, loving the peace it brings.
"Cross..." My voice is tired and I cough as my back hist the bed softly, my body searching for Stranger. I don't know what happen next, but I know Strangers in bed with me, I can feel her warmth.
