A nightmare of a dream

Jessicas pov

"Todays the day, just hand your resemee in a carry on with your day" i said to myself as i was looking in the mirror to fix my hair.

I was ready to tell my boss, oliver, the head lifeguard that i was leaving in a week.

I went into the kitchen and grabbed my bag and an apple and left my flat.
I live in a dreary old flat that i rented for 50 pound a week.

As i was walking down the road i could feel the very rare warmth from the sun and sighed . I was going to miss this place when i left.

When i got to the beach after a 10 minute walk i was the first person there. She i put my stuff into the lifeguard hut and went to put the flags out.

Once i returned to the hut everybody else was there so i gave Oliver my letter.
Lottie is my friend of 2 years and she already knew i was leaving.

"I cant believe your leaving!" Lottie yelled from outside of the hut.

"Me neither, its gone so quick" i called back.

"Im going to miss you you know"

Later in the day i was sat on the quad bike when someone cane up behind me. "So australia,hey??"

I turned around to find oliver.

"Yeah i was offered a job working on bondi beach butbi need to pass a test when i get out there"

"Well ive got every faith in you"

"Thanks"

"Youd better get back to your job then as i think someone might be needing your help "

I looked out to the water and a young boy was struggling to swim . I picked up the rescue board and paddled out to him.

When i got out there the boy was exhausted and so young . I mean he was about 5 . Things like this remind me of my little brother, how coukd parents be so irresponsible.

Ive always blamed myself for putting my brother in the situation when we had the car accident.

I got back to shore and made sure the kid was ok. "Did you swallow any water"

The kid was crying "no, i want my mum!"

"Can you take me to your mum please"

The kid started to walk off toward a woman fast asleep on the sand.

I woke her up "excuse me, excuse me!"

"What do you want?" She said.

"Do you know where your son was. He almost drowned , if it was acouooe of minutes later we woukdnt have been here to save him"

The woman didnt seem to care but i did i was a bout to have a massive go at her but oliver stepped in .

"Jess go home we are done for the dsy, il have a word with this lady"

"Bye oliver"

So i went and got my stuff fromt he lifeguard hut and went to the shower rooms on the promenade. It was good to get the salt off of me after being sat in it all day.

I walked slowly home thinking about australia and whether i was going to fit in with an all male lifeguard team.

I got home and laid down on the sofa and started to fall asleep. The next time i looked it was 10:30 pm . I went to my bredroom and collasped on my bed and drifted in sleep.
