At the hospital....
All of 51, and the intelligence unit was sitting with them.
Will came out. Kelly stood up.
" how is she?"
" they're still working on her. She got burned pretty good along with her injuries. There's still a chance she won't make it. I'm sorry."
Herman walked up to kelly and put a hand on him.
"Listen I know this is hard but we can call you if things change." Rhodes said
" she's my sister.... she can't be alone" kelly said
" she's not. We're with her 24/7 I promise. Go. Get washed up."
They all left.
Kelly POV:
We went back to work and the tones dropped. After the call I told the guys to go swing by the hospital.
" how is she?" I asked as we all walked in
Will put down the phone.
" I was about to call you. She's out of surgery and in ICU. Same story as before so we're keeping an eye on her?"
" so she's better?"
" we're not saying that. We're saying we're keeping an eye on her. "
"So there's a chance she'll make it."
" and there's a chance she won't. Kelly you need to prepare yourself for both outcomes."
" kelly I need you to come with us." Halstead said and I went with them.
"Severide, Hadley wants to talk to you. But if you're not ready we can shove him back in the cell." Erin said
" where is he?"
" interrogation room."
I walked in and voight and Halstead were sitting across from him.
" Kelly Severide, I heard about your sister, how is she?" Hadley asked with smirk
" you bastard I swear to ..." voight cut me off
" KELLY ."
" Hadley what do you want." Jay said
" I want protection"
" you're serving a sentence. Why do you need protection." Jay said
" not just for now but when I get out."
" who said you're getting out." I said
" you never did answer my question. How is she. Is she still alive or is she dead?"
I jumped across the table and grabbed his shirt
" I swear to god Hadley if it was just you and me you're face would be broken and in the ground right now."
" Severide!" Jay yelled and voight pulled him back as Erin came in the room.
" give him a minute." I heard him say
" WHY HADLEY! WHY JULIA! WHY MY SISTER. BECAUSE SHE BROKE YOUR HEART?! Man up everybody goes through it but that doesn't mean you get to kill them."
" whats done is done."
I pushed the chair so he'd fall.
" what's done is done right." I said and stood there.
" Kelly." Burgess walked in
" not now." I said
" yes now. The hospital called. It's julia. You gotta go."
I looked at her and then him and everyone else
" go we're right behind you." Erin said and I looked at voight and he nodded.
My fist met Hadley's face.
" that ones for my sister. For me, it's gonna be a lot more painful."
I raced to the hospital. I saw 51 in the waiting room. I walked over to Will.
"What's going on?" I asked
" Kelly, she's dying from her injuries. We did all that we could. It's time to say goodbye."
I was frozen. I couldn't move.
" we've got you." Gabby said and I turned to see the intelligence unit standing with 51. I nodded and walked in.
" Julia I am so sorry. I never wanted this to happen to you. This wasn't supposed to happen to you. Hadley won't see the light of day again I promise. You're my baby sister I need you here. What am I supposed to do without you. I love you sis."
Her monitor flatlined and I couldn't breathe. Will got me out of the way. No air was flowing through my body. I didn't know where to go or where to stand. I just stood there. Eventually Will came back out and led me through the doors. We walked into the lobby where everyone stood up in question of whether or not their world should start crumbling too.
"Kelly?" Erin asked
I just stood there staring at them. A single tear fell to the floor and I lowered my head watching it fall.
Everyone's eyes began to fill with tears. Erin went to give me a hug but I backed away taking in a deep breath.
"Kelly...." she said. I walked through those doors not knowing where to go. Not knowing what to do. Where do you go when you lose the only family you had left? I just walked for hours with my phone keep going off asking where I was. I never answered. Didn't want to. I decided to keep driving. No matter where it took me maybe the place would take some of the pain away. At least I hope.
