"What you doing here?" I asked Silas.
"I can't come visit my wife?" He welcomed himself inside. "You should be living with me, but I'll wait."
"Get out."
"Why?"
Shane walked down the stairs in his boxers and went straight to the kitchen, not paying us any mind.
"You can't be serious?" Silas looked at me in disbelief.
"You can't just show up at my house unexpectedly. I-"
"Why is he here?" I could hear the anger building up in his voice. His jaw clenched as he looked down at me.
"Because-"
"Because I'm hitting that. Have been for a while now." Shane interrupted our conversation, leaning on the wall.
"You realize we're married, right?" Silas asked me.
"Wait, you're married?" Shane darted his eyes between me and Silas.
"It's not real." I ignored Shane's question. We're married, but it doesn't really mean anything. We were drunk and that makes it invalid.
"It's legal so it's very real, Nova."
Shane remained leaning on the wall watching us with amusement. He was getting joy out of Silas' anger. On the outside he was angry, but I could see that he was also a little hurt.
"But we're getting an annulment." I said. He couldn't possibly think I'm going to continue with this charade. We aren't supposed to be married.
"You want an annulment. So why haven't you got one?" He tilted his head to the side with narrow eyes.
"What?"
"Why haven't you got an annulment since this marriage is something that you don't want." He spoke slowly. "You could go get an annulment yourself. You don't need a signature from me. This isn't a divorce."
"I-"
"I'm going to answer for you. You don't really want this annulment. But since you seem to be enjoying your little boy toy-"
"Boy toy?" Shane mugged him, but it didn't faze Silas. He was too busy staring me down until Shane opened his mouth.
He whipped his head in Shane's direction, "I'm sorry, was I talking to you? Are you Nova? Find you some business."
"Nova is my business."
"Is she? Because while you weren't around I was fulfilling her needs. Daily. You were back home and I had her bent over my desk. She's my wife so she's not your business." Silas spat.
"She obviously won't be your wife for long." Shane told him as he went back upstairs.
"You want an annulment?" Silas asked, but didn't give me time to answer. "Okay, your wish is my command."
He headed for the door, but stopped and turned to face me again. He took my right hand into his and slid the ring off of my finger.
"I'm done trying to please you. I'm done with the games, Nova. You want to be with that nigga upstairs then do it because I'm done with you. I've lost all love and respect for you." He stared into my eyes while he said every word and it felt like my heart was breaking piece my piece.
I know he meant it. He shook his head in disappointment and left. As much I wanted to cry, I wasn't going to. I brought that upon myself and I'm going to have to deal with it. Silas can't stand me and I'm just gonna have to move on with life.
