I hate romantic poetry

Because everything is a simile.

"Her eyes looked like stars"

"My heart ached like a broken bone".

No one speaks of feeling for what it really is,

Because no one really knows.

We hide our feelings and put on a facade for people to see

Because feeling is what humans have the most in common.

And we're afraid to have things in common

And getting too close.

So we disguise feeling as other things

Even when we are trying to be the most vulnerable.

I want to hear about the simplest descriptions

And the rawest senses

Because it's hard to understand when you're trying to be someone else.

I don't understand people or personality

Because personality is the best version of yourself

Not the mess version

And it's more likely to see the mess

Because that's who we really are.

Personality is the outline to your character
