The eye doctor

When you first meet me I'm an abundance of confidence and wits,

A sly smile and careless giggle are what seem fit.

I'll speak with annoyance and a sparkle in my eye,

Anything to make the truth take you by surprise.

You were nervous but without complaint,

But with time your true colors were put in place.

The months went by with no distinct purpose,

Until one day the problems surfaced.

I subconsciously longed for you with no explanation in mind,

And hoped our thoughts would be one when combined.

Your actions fueled my assumptions

And your friends confirmed my hopes to be true,

But this was only friendship to you.

I tried a bit harder with anyone else, I suppose .

Not knowing my actions would be what romance would impose

I kept myself in the dark in fear of what would happen

To my already aching heart

You saw my struggle unwind with tears spilling from my eyes,

Orange auras often bring pain in disguise.

That's nothing I had to explain because you already knew,

Little did I know my next struggle would be you.

I processed your words with my shield no longer in tact,

This is when I knew there was no going back.
